Electric Vehicle Backfire

Electric Vehicle Backfire by Bill Wilson Like so many things the Biden Administration has done, its theory that electric vehicles are cheaper to operate ran out of juice as prices at the pump stabilized last quarter. Now, according to a study by the Anderson Economic Group, internal combustion Engine cars are once again more economical to fuel than their Electric Vehicle counterparts. This is the first time in 18 months. The Biden plan to drive up oil prices so people would buy electric cars had a major flaw —- raising fuel prices also raises the cost of producing electricity—and everything else for that matter. Biden was betting on electric vehicles at the expense of every household budget in the United States as inflation went out of control for fuel, food, and other consumer products. One only has to follow the money to see why. When you look at the big picture, Biden and his band of World Economic Forum (WEF) corporations, media and government hacks have a plan—redistribute wealth and get rich all in the name of saving the planet. Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said higher gas prices were a compelling case for buying electric cars, “If you filled up your EV (electric vehicle) and you filled up your gas tank with gasoline, you would save $60 per fill-up by going electric rather than using gasoline but it’s a very compelling case.” Granholm also admitted that she had recently served as director of an electric car company and held millions in the firm’s stock. See how this works? Buying an electric vehicle might make you feel good that you upped your social credit score, but it won’t be good for your pocketbook. I compared the cost recovery on a 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid getting 41 miles to the gallon with a 15 mile-per-gallon Ford F-150 driving 1,500 miles per month. According to Edmunds.com Car Cost vs Mileage Calculator, it would take 174 months (14.5 years) at $2.79 cents a gallon before any savings would even begin on the Hybrid. Even at $5 a gallon gas it will take 8 years to begin saving money. But that Ford Escape won’t last that long. By the 6-year mark, the 100,000 mile warranty on the battery will have expired and it will cost another $15,000 to $20,000 to replace it. The WEF, which is driving the conversion to all things electric, accomplishes two of its goals in forcing conversion to electric vehicles: 1) wealth redistribution to its supporters at the expense of the average citizen, and 2) the off-on switch that can control where, when and how far people can travel. In a petro-powered vehicle, a backfire is caused by some form of resistance limiting the functions of the intake and exhaust valves in the engine. The socialist wealth redistribution plan with electric vehicles can also backfire with resistance—both economically from the gas and oil business and from you in not buying into the electric vehicle propaganda. There’s a Biblical principle in play as is said in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Don't let the great deceiver cause you to swallow the lies of Biden and his ilk.

Your Thought Life

Your Thought Life by Dr. D. James Kennedy “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he . . .” Proverbs 23:7 Many people constantly dwell on negative thoughts. They dwell on their fears, hurts, and problems. They focus on the fly in the ointment, never seeing the ointment but only the fly. With their negativity and destructiveness, these people can ruin the lives of those who have the misfortune of living with them and around them. Most of all, these pessimistic people destroy their own bodies and souls with their negative thoughts. And so their lives shrivel. What kind of thoughts do you dwell on? Are you a positive thinker, or do you most often find yourself dwelling in the pit of despair? Echoing a Biblical truth, Marcus Aurelius once said, “The most important things in life are the thoughts you choose to think.” The Bible says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Many people believe that they don’t choose their thoughts at all, that instead their thoughts choose them. Thoughts rush at them in a stream, like a rolling script going across a TV screen, and no one can control them. But this is not so. We do choose our thoughts. We choose what we think, and what we choose to think impacts our lives. Our thoughts determine what we say and how we say it. They determine what we are and what we become. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” We are the outward embodiments, the incarnations, of our thoughts, and because of this, we need to choose well what we think. Take notes from the apostle Paul. He was beaten and imprisoned for the Gospel’s sake. Because of all his trials, he could easily have had a gloomy outlook. Instead he chose to think good and positive thoughts, beginning with thoughts of the Lord. We should heed Paul’s instruction: “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8). Do you need to make a thought adjustment today? Let me encourage you to counteract your negative thoughts with positive ones. And as you do this, watch how you and your life change.

To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice

To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice by Dr. D. James Kennedy “. . . Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice . . .’” 1 Samuel 15:22 Do you ever dread going to the doctor or dentist, fearing what he or she might find in the exam? Well, every once in a while, we need to have a spiritual checkup, as painful as it may seem. Let’s search our hearts today. Have you neglected any duty in your life that God has called you to perform? God wants us to obey Him. To obey (follow Him in whatever He asks) is better than sacrifice (the confessions we offer to Him). Husbands and wives, have you neglected duties to each other? Do you have that tender relationship of love and intimacy that Christ calls us to? Or have you let it sit on the back burner for a while? As children, do you honor your parents? Do you fully obey that commandment, or do you do it only when it’s convenient? What about the other commandments in the Bible and the whisperings of God to your heart, calling you to some great work—have you obeyed? We also need to search our hearts for any evil. Have you persisted in evil habits contrary to God’s will? We need to allow God’s Word to convict us so that we might obey Him in all He asks. One of our church members told me that a few years ago I really convicted him when I talked about his addiction to cigarettes. This man was absolutely bound to smoking despite Scripture’s admonition against bondage to anything. I wonder how many condemn drug addiction in the young yet themselves nurture an addiction to cigarettes? Some four hundred thousand Americans will die this year from smoking-related diseases. Others are in bondage to the bottle and refuse to obey the Lord, refuse to see their bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet others habitually look at pornography in magazines, movies, television, or videos, all of which surround us like a polluted swamp. Consider your life today. Have you avoided a duty God has called you to? Do you not want to hear some passage of Scripture because you know you are disobeying it? Then face it today. Ask God to forgive you, then purpose in your heart to obey. Remember: “To obey is better than sacrifice.”

Police Officer Resigns After...

Police Officer Resigns after Being Put on Leave for Facebook Post on Traditional Marriage Virginia Allen (January 25, 2023) "I am grateful for the opportunity that I was given to be a police officer. I do not take that honor and responsibility lightly. However, my integrity and Christian beliefs are at the core of who I am, and I will not abandon them." -Jacob Kersey airlift[DailySignal.com] A Georgia police officer has resigned after he was told by superiors that he could not share his personal religious views on social media. "If someone somewhere considers an opinion I have—that isn't a direct quotation from Scripture—to be offensive, then that would be a fireable offense," Jacob Kersey, the former officer, told The Daily Signal. Kersey, 19, who began working last May at the Port Wentworth Police Department, in a jurisdiction just outside Savannah, says "everything was going well" until the start of the new year. On Jan. 2, Kersey posted a 20-word message about his view of marriage on Facebook. "God designed marriage. Marriage refers to Christ and the Church," he wrote, paraphrasing the Apostle Paul's teaching in the Book of Ephesians. "That's why there is no such thing as homosexual marriage." The next day, Kersey said he received a phone call from his supervisor, who told him that someone had complained about the post and to take it down. When Kersey refused, the supervisor warned him that failure to delete the Facebook post on marriage could result in his termination. Kersey said he then was contacted by Lt. Justin Hardy, who told him that the Port Wentworth Police Department didn't want to be held liable in a "use of force" situation involving someone in the LGBTQ community. Kersey still refused to delete the post. The police officer received a phone call later that day from the police department's Maj. Lee Sherrod, ordering him to come to the office the following morning, Jan. 4, and turn in everything he had that belonged to the city. Kersey told The Daily Signal that he believed he was going to be terminated. When he arrived at the police station, the young officer met with Sherrod, Hardy, Capt. Nathan Jentzen, and Police Chief Matt Libby. He was told that he was "being placed on administrative leave while the city investigated to see if I could keep my job," Kersey said. "I was told that I was wise beyond my years, an old soul, and that they brag on me all the time, but that I couldn't post things like that"... Forgiving Our Enemies

Forgiving Our Enemies by Dr. D. James Kenned “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you . . . ” Matthew 5:44 I want to talk to you today about the incredible importance of forgiveness in our lives. Without it, we’ll never make it in this world or the next. Doctors now know that we don’t get ulcers as much from what we eat; we get them from what’s eating us. If you want to have a miserable existence and risk contracting one or more diseases, then hold resentment and unforgiveness in your heart. They can destroy the body. Would you prefer to cultivate a forgiving heart? Then learn from Joseph’s example. He had much to forgive . . . He had to forgive his father, Jacob, because of Jacob’s folly in preferring him over his brothers. He had to forgive his brothers for throwing him into a pit then selling him into slavery as a mere alternative to killing him. He had to forgive his brothers for all his years of slavery in Egypt and for the long, arduous tasks he had to perform until finally he was accepted into Potiphar’s household. He had to forgive Potiphar’s wife, who took hold of his garment, bringing his integrity into question. He had to forgive Potiphar, who never even looked into the matter between Joseph and his wife but condemned Joseph out of hand, sending him to prison to languish for years. Joseph could well have said he had much to set right, but he never did. Instead he freely forgave them all. Abraham Lincoln is also a wonderful example of forgiveness. He regularly forgave his enemies. On the very afternoon before he was shot, Lincoln gave instructions to his cabinet, many members of which were bent on stepping on the face of the South now that the Civil War had ended. Lincoln told his cabinet, “There will be no reparations.” He had a heart as big as the whole world and yet not big enough to hold a grudge. Do you have an enemy whom you have not forgiven from your heart? Then ask God for the grace to forgive; after all, Jesus has forgiven us for so much more—who are we to hold grudges?

Your Daily Truth

Faith Without Works by Dr. D. James Kennedy “But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” — James 2:18 Do you ever get confused by all the different religions in the world? Many do. So let’s reduce this complex subject to its simplest components. Ultimately, only three types of religions exist. The first type of religion (“Christian” or otherwise) teaches that people become acceptable to God by their own works, such as keeping commandments and following certain rules of morality, piety, and benevolence. Another type of religion teaches simply that people are saved by faith in Christ. And the third type of religion teaches that people are saved by a combination of faith and works. The Bible makes it clear that only by faith in Christ can we be saved. We can’t add good works to the equation. However, the Bible also says that true faith in Christ manifests itself in good works. Faith is invisible. Someone may say that he or she has faith, but you cannot see it, nor can a person show it apart from works. And that is precisely why, at the Judgment, God judges people by their works. Though only Jesus can save us, we demonstrate the genuineness of our faith in Jesus to the world by the works we do. In the second chapter of his letter, James denounces the barren orthodox, those who believe that they save themselves by the correctness of their creed, those who may confess expertly, may argue their faith with great eloquence, and believe it in all of its details; yet they have no fruit: joy, love, peace, works, or service for Christ. They may profess religious faith, but their actions show they don’t possess it. Do people know what you believe by how you live? Today, choose to honor God in all you do, so that those around you may know the truth.

Pressing Toward the Mark

Pressing Toward The Mark “. . . forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:13-14 Have you ever wondered why some people succeed while others fail? Do successful people have heredity, environment, luck, money, or education on their side? Those factors have probably contributed toward the success of some, yet we all know people who have enjoyed these benefits and have amounted to little. On the other hand, history is replete with examples of those who had none of those advantages yet succeeded magnificently. So what are the secrets of success? I believe that Paul tells us some of those secrets in Philippians 3:13-14. First, Paul says, “. . . reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” How important that is. This picture alludes to a runner who stretches his or her hand way in front of the body. Through this picture, Paul tells us that we need that eager aspiration, that enthusiasm that comes from God within us, causing us to reach out toward greater things. We need that eagerness of heart if we’re to succeed. Too often we go through our jobs, our devotions, our worship, and our service for Christ with perfunctory attitudes. But when we have eager anticipation, God can do great things through us. Second, Paul says, “I press toward the goal for the prize.” The phrase “press toward the goal” means to pursue, to go after something in an intense way. In addition to eagerness of spirit, we need to exert great effort to reach our goals. We need to clearly define worthy pursuits and forget about all of our failures. We need to exert energy to meet our goals and not let anything get in the way of reaching them. Today ask the Lord to show you a goal worthy of your effort. Then ask Him to give you the enthusiasm and energy to press toward it. As you do so each day, you’ll get closer to “the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Loyalty in a Disloyal World

Loyalty In A Disloyal World “Then Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Do you also want to go away?’ Then Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’” — John 6:67–68 Orson Welles once complained, “When you’re down and out, something always turns up—and it’s usually the noses of your friends.” How loyal are you to the people in your life? Loyalty is a noble trait, but often people are more committed to themselves than to anyone or anything else. In view of so many dissolved marriages, you’d almost think the marriage vow states, “Till inconvenience do us part.” Most definitely, loyalty in our time seems rare, as evidenced by the alacrity with which people change friends, jobs, communities, and churches. Jesus knew the sting of betrayal. One time, after a large crowd abandoned Jesus, refusing to follow Him anymore, He turned to the twelve disciples and asked them if they were going to leave Him too. Peter answered so well for all of us who follow Christ: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Jesus then lamented that even one of those remaining twelve was a devil (referring to Judas—the ultimate example of disloyalty—who would betray Christ for money). But the Bible also has some positive examples of loyalty. Consider King Saul’s son Jonathan, who made tremendous sacrifices for David. He even gave up his throne for David’s sake. Or think of Ruth, who said to her mother-in-law, “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go . . . Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” (Ruth 1:16). What a tremendous testimony of loyalty. Loyalty is such a rare trait that those who exhibit it distinguish themselves from the rest of the world. I encourage you today to stay loyal and faithful to your spouse, your family, your church, your boss, and your friends. You will reap wonderful benefits for doing so. And if you need an example of loyalty, look to our Lord and Savior. Jesus Christ has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. He gave His very life for us. No one is more loyal than He.

Advice from George Washington

On occasion after occasion, our nation’s first president consistently sought for Americans to obey God. This was true even before he became president. Here are three examples from him. Our first president George Washington was once asked by the Indian chiefs of Delaware if their sons could be taught by the American colonists. George Washington replied, “You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and ‘above all,’ the religion of Jesus Christ.” Later, after the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781, but before the official surrender of the British in the Treaty of Paris in 1783, the Commander-in-Chief wrote a letter to all the governors of the 13 states. Washington told them in this famous “Circular to the States” many pieces of advice. And he closes this letter with a virtual prayer. Here is what he said: “I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field, and finally, that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all, to do Justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristicks of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy Nation.” Here is the paraphrase of what he said: We can never hope to be a happy nation unless we imitate Jesus. He is echoing here Micah 6:8 (“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”) and applying it to an imitation of Christ. In his First Inaugural Address (1789), the father of our country said, “…the propitious smiles of Heaven, can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained…” What is saying here? We should not expect to be blessed by God, unless we obey God’s rules. I had the privilege of co-authoring with Dr. Peter Lillback a best-selling book called, George Washington’s Sacred Fire. This 1200-page tome documents the genuine Christianity of our first president. I once asked Dr. Lillback what did he think Washington had in mind when he said “the eternal rules…which Heaven itself has ordained.” Lillback responded that he thought the Ten Commandments were an excellent educated guess. After all, Washington was an active member in the Anglican Church. At that time, many of those churches had a reredos, writings behind the altar for the whole congregation to recite. These included the Nicene Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. Over and over, George Washington encouraged us as a new nation, which he helped create, to imitate God and His Son. He encouraged us to obey God’s rules of right and wrong and not disregard them. This is a consistent witness from our first president. Americans continue to ignore this advice at our nation’s peril.

Seek First the Kingdom

Seek First The Kingdom “. . . seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness . . .” — Matthew 6:33 Whether or not we’re aware of it, we all have pursuits in life, ultimate goals we want to achieve. Whatever our pursuits are, they drive the rest of our lives. Wittingly or unwittingly, we choose our daily actions to help us reach our ultimate goals. And Jesus Christ told us exactly what we should wholeheartedly pursue first and foremost—God’s kingdom and His righteousness. If we want to seek God’s kingdom first, we must examine our priorities. As we do, we often find we’re far off the mark. Many people set money making as their primary goal in life. They choose this goal in the most uncritical fashion, without ever asking if they should spend their time, effort, and energy on it. Other people adopt pleasure as their ultimate goal. They want only enough money to enjoy their pleasures. Such people are little different from the ancient pagan hedonists who openly declared pleasure as their god. Yet others spend their lives building their own kingdoms where they can rule over others. They amass as much power as they can so they can have control. But God asks, “Should you then seek great things for yourself? Seek them not.” Jesus continues centuries later, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” Clearly, God wants His kingdom to be our ultimate pursuit in life. What does it mean to seek the kingdom of God? First, we seek the extension of His kingdom by sharing the gospel of Christ with those who don’t know it. Second, it means discipling, teaching, and building up people in the faith. The kingdom should extend until every phase of our lives is under His dominion. Then we will be at peace with Him and ourselves. Have you evaluated your priorities recently? Have you made seeking God’s kingdom your ultimate pursuit? If not, do so today. Invite God to use you however He desires to draw people to Him.

Which types of fish can you still eat without hesitation?

Which types of fish can you still eat without hesitation?
Charlotte Elton
Tue., January 17, 2023 at 4:55 PM CET

If you eat a single freshwater fish from wild-fished waters in the U.S., you may be ingesting the same amount of hazardous chemicals as you are drinking contaminated drinking water for a month.

So-called 'forever chemicals' – also known as PFA (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, including PFOS and PFOA) – are hazardous, non-natural substances. They have been manufactured by humans since the 1940s and are used in a number of products, including cosmetics but also, for example, in frying pans.

They decay very slowly. In mid-2022, scientists succeeded for the first time in destroying eternal chemicals in order to remove them from the cycle.

According to scientists at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) – a non-profit research organization – people who eat freshwater fish ingest very large amounts of these toxic chemicals.

  • What we know about fish mortality on the Oder - and what we don't

Although there are currently no limit values for PFOS, PFOA or other PFAS in the EU Drinking Water Directive, the European Food Safety Authority EFSA recommends not exceeding a weekly intake of 4.4 nanograms per kilogram of body weight for the four PFASs predominant in human blood.

According to EWG, the consumption of one portion of fish corresponds to the intake of water with 48 nanograms per kilogram of PFOS for one month.

"People who consume freshwater fish, especially those who regularly catch and eat fish, are at risk of alarming PFAS concentrations in their bodies," said David Andrews, Ph.D., one of the study's lead authors.

"When I was growing up, I went fishing every week and ate this fish. But when I see fish now, all I think about is PFAS contamination."

Which fish contain 'eternal chemicals'?

The researchers analyzed data from more than 500 samples of fish fillets collected in the U.S. between 2013 and 2015.

The fish samples include 44 different species, with channel catfish, small perch, large perch, yellowfish and zander being the most frequently measured.

All of these species contained dangerous amounts of the presumably toxic substances.

The study refers to fish from US waters, but it stands to reason that European fish is also contaminated.

What are eternal chemicals?

Eternal chemicals remain in the environment for more than 1,000 years. They are made up of carbon and fluorine atoms bonded together – one of the strongest chemical bonds that exist.

Such substances are hardly degradable in the environment. But we can control what we eat. In a 2021 study, PFAs were found in rainwater in most places on Earth, while an earlier analysis detected the toxic compounds in breast milk.

Scientists have linked the chemicals to fertility problems, an increased risk of cancer, and developmental delays in children.

Are PFAs contained in all fish?

The study found that freshwater fish contain up to 280 times more chemicals than commercially caught saltwater fish.

The authors described the results as "overwhelming" and "staggering."

The high rate of contamination is also a concern for environmental justice, the researchers warned, as it primarily threatens those who cannot afford to buy commercial fish and seafood.

"Identifying the sources of PFAS exposure is an urgent public health priority," said Tasha Stoiber, one of the study's co-authors.

What can we do about PFAs?

The scientists have called for rapid regulation of PFA production.

Safety guidelines for these chemicals have been significantly tightened over the past 20 years when their toxicity was discovered – many are millions of times lower than in the early 2000s.

Last year, investors managing nearly €8 trillion in assets called on chemical companies to phase out PFAs. The growing awareness of the risks of toxic chemicals has triggered a flood of lawsuits that could cost chemical companies up to 30 billion US dollars (28.7 billion euros).

Which fish can you eat from a sustainability point of view?

In a guide to fish consumption published by the Consumer Center, herring, flounder, keta salmon and plaice from the Baltic Sea as well as bonito tuna are described as "good fish" that can still be eaten today without hesitation.

The full list of the German Consumer Advice Centre can be found here.
