A pebble thrown into a pond creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond its point of contact. The waves of the ocean emanate from a point far from the place where we observe them.
In similar manner, thoughts and our words extend well beyond the scope of their origin. Whether spoken or heard, the impact of them travels to distant points that neither the speaker nor the hearer can imagine.
Because of the extent of the power of words, great care must be given to the use of them. The BIBLE says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in THY sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer."
The thoughts we
think are the soil from which our words spring, so they must be guarded
well. May we assure that those things upon which we meditate are
pleasing to our FATHER, for when they are, we can be confident that our
conversation will extol HIS HOLY NAME and further the purposes of the
KINGDOM of our SAVIOR.
