Elaine's Passing
Another classmate has, as Shakespeare stated, "shuffled off this mortal coil."
Another believer, like the Apostle Paul, has said, "I have run my race; I have finished my course...now there is laid up for me a crown of glory that will not fade away."
Fifty-five years, five and a half decades ago, she was a young high school graduate. She was full of life and promise. In what appears in reflection to be "a twinkling of an eye," time has slipped away silently, steadily, almost imperceptibly.
Fifty-five years is a large segment of time in a human life (there are careers, marriages, children, grandchildren--she had 18 grandchildren!) but quite a scant segment of eternity.
As each of us draws closer and ever closer to our concluding moment of time on earth, we must become more and more thankful for the LORD JESUS CHRIST who has opened for us the portal of Heaven, who has made our sojourn here a stepping stone to ETERNITY with HIM.
May JESUS open our spiritual eyes to behold the glories that await us, so at times like these we "sorrow not as those who have no hope."
