Valentines' Day Tears

VALENTINES' DAY TEARS

Yesterday was Valentines' Day. Went to lunch with the love of my life because we had to go to a funeral home for a viewing this evening instead of going out for a holiday dinner. My neighbor will never again enjoy love's special day with his wife of 51 years.

In Florida, families who were planning to celebrate together are instead making funeral arrangements for the 17 victims of the latest school shooter.

Of course, guns will be blamed and there will be a hue and cry against the amendment that guarantees a citizen's "right to bear arms." Few will mention the blighted heart of man from which murder and mayhem spring forth.

Death is the inevitable end of us all, as the old saying goes, "Nobody gets out of here alive." Yet, whether death comes by the ravages of old age and disease or whether it comes stealthily by the mind of a perverted, demon-driven soul, it is an intrusion into the routine of life that we all believe will continue tomorrow.

Whether you are lamenting the loss of a beloved neighbor who always shared her extraordinary culinary skill with you by giving you some of the delectable treats from her kitchen, or whether your heart is broken over yet another school shooting (18 so far during this young year) it's time to say, "ENOUGH!"

It's time that people of faith fall on their faces before a holy GOD and claim the promises of II Chronicles 7:14: "If MY people, who are called by MY name, will humble themselves and pray and seek MY face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land."

It's time to be humble, to pray, to seek the face of GOD, to turn from our wicked ways, so HE may hear us and forgive our sin and heal our land.

In fact, it's way past time.
