Peace
As the year of 2018 concludes, may you find yourself at a place of peace--peace within and at a place of harmony with those around you.
No, inner peace does not come easily. Sometimes the biggest battles we wage are those we wage with our 'self.' We are conflicted in many areas of life:
Do we fight for a broken marriage or do we walk away? If one's life-partner has abandoned or betrayed us, we feel justified in calling it quits. The LORD says of the matter, "If an unbelieving spouse depart, let him go." The clear distinction is that if the spouse in question is a believer, the person of faith is to hold on to the relationship and try to make it work.
Do we remain in a job where our faith and values are disdained or do we seek employment in a more Christ-friendly environment?
Do we share our faith with unbelievers around us who mock our adherence to "old wives' tales and myths" or do we ponder the words of truth within ourselves?
Peace.
Peace can be elusive for many reasons, but most often it escapes our grasp because we are simply too busy holding on to worldly things to take the gift that "passes understanding" to ourselves.
At this conclusion of the eighteenth year of the century, may we let go of all the allurements of the world that we have endeavored to accrue to ourselves and reach out for the peace that can come to us only when we have embraced the Prince of Peace.
