A common definition of the word 'liberal' is: "willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas."
That sounds very good -- sounds like anyone who is liberal must be a fair-minded individual who has no problem accepting people even if they do not share the same views.
Sometimes, however, people who identify as being liberal are far from this open-minded definition in practice. Sometimes their actions and their words suggest a far more narrow-minded view than the definition proclaims.
Anyone who really respects the exchange of ideas among people of different views will extend respect to even their strongest opponents. Anyone who really respects the exchange of ideas among people of different views will be very appreciative of the opportunity to liven in a nation that allows, encourages dialogue among thinkers of all persuasions.
