Jesus, "the Lion of the tribe of Judah," seems distant. In fact, many disbelieve His existence. They are among those prophesied who will say, "Where is the promise of His coming? Since the fathers fell asleep we have been waiting but He doesn't come."
Those who reason thusly have not factored in the truth that "a thousand years is as a day and a day is as a thousand years" to God. If He doesn't seem to be in a hurry, it's because time isn't as relevant to Him as it is to us.
We watch the pages of the calendar turn with ever-increasing rapidity. Hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades unfold swiftly in our lives. We go from childhood to adulthood to old age in what appears to us as a "twinkling of an eye," but to the Holy One, who sees the end from the beginning, time is a continuum.
Before He placed the foundation of the earth, before He spoke mankind into existence, He knew the moment Christ would return for His bride. In His broad scope of human events, He sees at once the events of the Garden as He sees the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
The Lion is always on alert. He is always prepared to swoop to your defense when you need Him, just as He is relaxed enough to allow time to pass by without His intervention.
Whether He silently observes the events that disconcert you or whether He shows Himself strong through them, rest in the confidence that He who controls all things will never "fail you nor forsake you."
He will rise from His rest at the precise moment He has ordained from eternity.
