Elon Musk employs more than
100,000 people around the world. One of his companies, SpaceX, has made history
with its flights and has helped NASA maintain the space program following the
end of the Space Shuttle program. While many Americans appreciate the contributions
he’s made to the country, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is not among them.
When TIME named Musk Person of the Year in December, Warren was
angry. The senator took time out of her busy schedule to rant about the choice
on Twitter. She implied the American entrepreneur was freeloading by allegedly
not paying his fair share of taxes. The Tesla CEO was quick to hit back. He
said the senator didn’t have any idea what she was talking about, revealing his
tax bill this year will be the largest in the history of the country.
Musk told his followers he’ll pay the US government $11 billion in taxes in
2021. He went on to joke that Warren should spend all the money in one place,
then said, “oh wait you did.”
Warren is one of the loudest voices on the Left about taxing the
rich. Instead of working with the business people that have made the country
great, she wants to punish their success. Musk won’t allow her to bully him —
rightfully so.
