Update
Update
Below is the update about Christine. She went into surgery at 8am yesterday. The surgery continued until 1:40am today: 17 hours, 40 minutes. Sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have prayed and are praying for her. As you can see by the following report, she still needs prayer but the LORD is with her and is delivering her from this affliction.
The gynecological surgeon said the following: First, the great news—they were able to remove ALL of the cancer, getting her to their goal of “R0” or no Residual Cancer. She also received a HIPEC (direct application of chemo to address and kill any remaining microscopic cancer not visible to the human eye).
Getting to R0 was the chief aim of the surgery making this surgery very successful. That is great news. The bad news is that they had to resect her colon and give her an ileostomy—a temporary means of collecting waste until the colon resection heals. She will have the ileostomy for about 6 weeks, then come back for two hour surgery to remove it. This will not be enjoyable but thank God it will be temporary.
Now we begin the long journey of recovering from this invasive surgery. She will be here recovering for about two weeks before we go home.
Thank you for your prayers—the Lord is with us.
