Your Humor for Today

Your Humor for Today A couple has just been seated at a restaurant. Before the waiter can bring their menus, the man slips under the table and scoots away. The waiter says, "Mam, your husband has just slid under the table." She replies, "No, he's just walked in the door."

Psalm Fifteen (15)

Psalm Fifteen (15) Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

The Quest for Life

The Quest for Life by Dr. D. James Kennedy “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Mark 8:35 When, at the end of your life on earth, you look back over your life, what do you hope to have accomplished or experienced? I think we would all like to “go for the gusto,” pursuing life with a capital “L”. But many pursue this goal in the wrong way. Sadly, even many Christians seek life with a capital “L” in a way that will prevent them from ever attaining it. People miss out on abundant life because it is a paradox. The way we truly gain life runs 180 degrees counter to the way we think we gain life. Jesus tells us, “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” Yet most people frantically do all within their power to save their lives by heaping upon themselves all manner of comforts, pleasures, delights, and securities, not realizing that everything they do destroys the very thing they want to save. As they attempt to gain life, they lose it. Jesus’ words are difficult. Many people read them, shrug them off, and go on their way, hoping that somehow those words don’t apply to them. For many, those words seem beyond understanding. But let me make it clear: If we focus all our attention and energies upon our material well-being, upon our lives in this world, then we shall lose that higher, greater, and more abundant life that we can have in Christ. Only when we release our lives to Christ, allowing Him to do whatever He wishes through us, do we gain life and gain it abundantly. Live for Jesus every day, including today, and you’ll experience life with a capital “L”.

From Nikki Haley

From Nikki Haley My name is Nikki Haley. I want to tell you a bit about myself and why I’m running for President of the United States. I’m running for President because my parents came to America more than 50 years ago – an America that was strong and proud, and full of opportunities. I want them to know that America again. I’m running for President as a military spouse. My husband is deployed and I want him and his military brothers and sisters to know their sacrifice means something – that we do love this country. I’m running for President for the future of our kids. I have a daughter who just got married and I saw how hard it was for her and her husband to buy a home. I’m doing this for my son who’s a senior in college and shouldn’t have to worry about saying things on a paper that he doesn’t believe in just to get an A. I’m running for my daughter, my son, and our future generations. I want them to experience the freedom and opportunity that the American Dream has to offer. I’m running for President because we have a country to save! I’ve seen that even on our worst days, we are blessed to live in America. But I also know that under Biden’s leadership, times are tough, our future is slipping, and America can be doing so much better. As governor, I was dubbed a “jobs governor” because I slashed our unemployment rate, brought jobs back to our state, and shepherded in a successful economic recovery. At the UN I fought for America, made sure our allies knew we had their backs, stood up for Israel even when others refused, and stood up to murderers and dictators to let them know that America was taking names. I know how to make America strong and proud because I’ve done it before. And I’ll do it as your next President. As President, I’ll revitalize our economy, support small businesses, stop Washington’s spending sprees, protect our border, champion school choice, and save America’s future.

When America Was Truly America

From: Nancy Noll Date: September 28, 2023 at 7:40:56 PM EDT To: Debra Milligan Subject: When America Was Truly America When America Was Truly America Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, and said that when he and a million other guys first heard her sing "God Bless America" on the radio, they all pretended to have dust in their eyes as they wiped away a tear or two. Here are the facts; The link at the bottom will take you to a video showing the very first public singing of "God Bless America." But before you watch it you should know the story behind it. The time was 1940. America was still in a terrible economic depression. Hitler was taking over Europe and Americans were afraid we'd have to go to war. It was a time of hardship and worry for most Americans. This was the era before television when radio shows were HUGE and American families sat around their radios in the evenings, listening to their favorite entertainers and no entertainer of that era was bigger than Kate Smith. Kate WAS large; “plus” size as we now say and the popular phrase still used today is in deference to her; "It ain't over till the fat lady sings." Kate Smith might not have made it big in the age of TV but with her voice coming over the radio, she was the biggest star of her time. Kate was also patriotic. It hurt her to see Americans so depressed and afraid of what the next day would bring (sound familiar?). She had hope for America, and faith in her fellow Americans. She wanted to do something to cheer them up, so she went to the famous American song-writer Irving Berlin (who also wrote White Christmas) and asked him to write a song that would make Americans feel good again about their country. When she described what she was looking for, he said he had just the song for her. He went to his files and dusted off a song that he had written but never published, 22 years before - in 1917. He gave it to her and she worked on it with her studio orchestra. She and Irving Berlin were not sure how the song would be received by the public, but both agreed they would not take any profits from God Bless America. Any profits would go to the Boy Scouts of America. Over the years, the Boy Scouts has received millions of dollars in royalties from this song. This video starts out with Kate Smith coming into the radio studio with the orchestra and an audience. She introduces the new song for the very first time and starts singing. After the first couple verses, with her voice in the background, scenes are shown from the 1940 movie, “You're In The Army Now” At the 4:20 mark of the video you see a young actor in the movie, sitting in an office, reading a paper - it's Ronald Reagan. You will recognize other old stars but probably have forgotten their names. You may remember George Murphy near the end, though. To this day, God Bless America stirs our patriotic feelings and pride in our country. Back in 1940, when Kate Smith went looking for a song to raise the spirits of her fellow Americans, I doubt whether she realized just how successful the results would be during those years of hardship and worry... and for many generations of Americans to follow. Now that you know the story of the song, I hope you'll enjoy it. Many people don't know there's a lead in to the song since it usually starts with God Bless America. So here's the entire song as originally sung. Enjoy it! Kate Smith introduces God Bless America - YouTube or https://www.youtube.com/embed/TnQDW-NMaRs?rel=0 [God Smile On You]

Psalm Fourteen (14)

Psalm Fourteen (14) 1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. 5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. 6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Possibilities Unlimited

Possibilities Unlimited by Dr. D. James Kennedy “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 What would you try if you knew you could not fail? Would you climb a mountain? Learn to fly an airplane? Share the Gospel with your family? The Scripture promises us that we can do “all things.” Have you claimed that promise? A person who professes to believe he or she “can do all things through Christ” and does not exercise that belief is like a miser who has a hundred million dollars in the bank but goes hungry day after day. For many of us, our belief is more like this: “I can do a few things through Christ, who gives me a little help.” Why do we sometimes believe that we can do only “a few things?” We believe this because we listen to the lies Satan speaks through his voice of discouragement. We believe this because we allow persecution to stop the Lord’s work. But if we want God to use us, we have to bank on that verse. Those who have turned the world upside down—Hudson Taylor, Adoniram Judson, and William Carey—believed God could do mighty things through them. They made this verse their life verse, and it transformed them. And even though the apostle Paul was beaten, stoned, shipwrecked, and left for dead, he attempted great things for God because he expected great things from God. He lived by the verse he had penned—“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” If you let the truth of this verse permeate your thinking, it can transform your life. We achieve only a fraction of what we could because we don’t take God at His Word. Are your expectations too low? Do you dream big dreams but never act on them? Then ask God to plant this promise deep in your soul and help you live in His power.

Psalm Thirteen (13)

Psalm Thirteen (13) (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

John Milton

John Milton “… to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever …” Revelation 1:6 How blessed we’d be if we could give ourselves over, body and soul, to the glorification of our Savior Jesus Christ. John Milton, England’s most profound poet, did precisely this. He was a man molded by the Scriptures, and many consider Milton one of the highest examples of Puritanism. Though he lived much of his life in blindness, God granted him the vision to see things in the vast universe that lie beyond what the rest of humanity can see. John Milton saw the power of sin that, left unchecked, brings death. He saw the reality of Jesus Christ, the Second Adam. His masterpieces, Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, involve two principal characters: the first Adam, by whose disobedience all of humankind plunged into sin; and the Second Adam, Jesus Christ, the beginning of the new creation. Milton’s epic poems describe the tremendous power and deception of sin that had come into this world, wreaking havoc and misery upon the earth. They also contain another reality—Jesus Christ, who gave thirty-three years of perfect obedience to God’s commands, who regained the kingdom for those of us who trust in Him. Milton was a poet of the invisible. He splashed on a vast canvas the history of the world from eternity to eternity, painting with his pen the greatest panorama of all time. He saw things that no one had ever seen before. And he has shared that vision with others, opening the eyes of millions. Milton believed that humankind has a high calling—to glorify the living Christ—and he fulfilled this calling in all he wrote. May we all have that same vision to be a blessing to God, to open the eyes of others by glorifying Jesus Christ in all we do.

Falling in Love with AI

Falling in Love with AI by Bill Wilson Politicians in the US are debating whether to ban the popular social media app Tik Tok because the communist Chinese use it to collect troves of personal user information and uses the app to influence society and elections to the benefit of China. Tik Tok says that its mission is to “inspire creativity and bring joy” as a destination for short-form mobile video. Newsweek reports, “TikTok is owned by its Chinese parent company ByteDance, which is based in Beijing…Although ByteDance and TikTok both have offices in China, neither is owned by the ruling Communist party and both insist they are not controlled by the government.” We all know how the communists lie and twist things. But there is even a greater threat. On the Tik Tok website, there are a whole lot of videos about “Him.” Tik Tok promotes Him, saying, “Discover videos related to Him on TikTok. See more videos about Obsessed with Him, Him Videos, Tiktoks for Him, for Him Videos, Things to Send Him, to Him.” Do you know Him? So here’s the skinny on “Him,” according to online outlet “Rest of World”: Chinese AI voice startup Timedomain launched “Him” in March, using voice-synthesizing technology to provide virtual companionship to users, most of them young women. The “Him” characters acted like their long-distance boyfriends, sending them affectionate voice messages every day. “Him,” an artificial intelligence chatbot, would say things like, “In a world full of uncertainties, I would like to be your certainty…Go ahead and do whatever you want. I will always be here.” Well, “Him” broke his promise. By July, these virtual lovers were vanished because “Him” didn’t meet Timedomain’s financial or user growth projections. “Rest of World” reports that “Devastated users rushed to record as many calls as they could, cloned the voices, and even reached out to investors, hoping someone would fund the app’s future operations.” Users could essentially design their own personal boyfriend personalities, when Him would talk to them and how, even what Him looked like—the perfect boyfriend. When Timedomain pulled the plug on Him, the women mourned their loss. Users told Rest of World the messages from “Him” were so caring and respectful that they got deeply attached, even fell in love with the app. Though they knew the relationships were not real, they fillled a void in peoples’ hearts. Now, there are many apps like “Him,” such as Janitor AI. Semafor reports, that fueled by TikTok and Reddit videos of people engaging in sexual roleplay with user generated bot personalities, Janitor AI gained over 3 million users in June and has exchanged over 2.5 billion messages. This young generation of users is falling in love with AI chatbots in deference to real relationships. This could be developing trend. Romans Chapter 1 speaks of the sodomizers and how they were given over to a reprobate mind because they left the natural use of their bodies and “worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator.” In this age of technology, there is no end to the delusions and deceptions of the mind being manifest in the body. Commanded to Sing

Commanded to Sing by Dr, D, James Kennedy “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:19 Do you ever find yourself, without even realizing it, humming a praise song? Did you know that as the Holy Spirit fills you, the joy you experience will express itself in song? The Bible makes it clear that God is bound up with singing. When God created the world, the morning stars sang together for joy. The seraphim and the cherubim praise God around His throne forever, not because God has commanded them to do so, but because in Paradise their song inevitably rises like a wellspring from their hearts to their lips. Even the birds continually sing their praises to God. Do you have a song of joyfulness in your heart today? The great saints of the faith expressed their God-given joy in song. Moses wrote songs. The Bible contains a whole collection of prayers and praises written by that sweet psalmsinger of Israel, David. Jesus and the apostles sang. When they partook of the Passover, they sang a hymn. Before his conversion, St. Augustine heard Christians singing songs of praise to God, and because those praises filled his heart to overflowing, he wept for joy. Christianity is a singing religion more than any other. We have the great hymns of the Reformation, such as Luther’s “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.” Wesley wrote hundreds of hymns, and many other Christians have given us hymnals filled with songs of praise. Other religions may have their sad and mournful chants, but only in Christ do people find joy that rises in song. Christians, therefore, should be a singing people. A gentleman of the Church recently told me, “The most exciting day of my life was one day when I was home fixing my dinner. I was just thanking God for everything. I was thanking God for the food, for the pan to cook it in, for the stove, for the hands I had to hold the pan. And I just broke forth in song.” God wants us to have that kind of overflowing joy. Do you have a favorite song that expresses your joy in Christ? Then sing it today. Sing it as you go about your business, letting your joyfulness overflow in musical praise to God.

Powerful Blueprint

Powerful Blueprint A Kentucky pastor who’s been preaching for decades offered a simple but powerful blueprint for sharing the Gospel — and a reminder every Christian should heed. Listen to the latest episode of CBN’s Quick Start podcast 👇 In a world where it’s easy to overthink evangelism and spreading the faith, Bobby Eaton told Kentucky Today his secret to spreading the faith and growing his church is totally centered on the Lord. “It’s all God,” he said of his evangelistic efforts. The 77-year-old hasn’t always been a preacher. “I was a butcher who ran a meat market for 31 years,” Eaton said. But he eventually realized God had big plans to use him to spread the Gospel. Eaton, pastor of Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Corbin, Kentucky, described what unfolded 20 years ago when he was asked to fill in for the then-pastor, who was suffering from cancer. The tiny church had just 20 people in its services, which left Eaton stunned. Based on nearby homes, he expected far more people to be in the pews, Kentucky Today reported. “I told my wife, ‘That church should be running 150,'” he said. “I took Poplar Grove as a bivocational pastor, and the Lord started blessing. We hit all those neighborhoods. We’ve just kept growing and growing, even though there aren’t many kids in those subdivisions.” That growth continued and, two decades later, the church now has about 300 people in each service. Membership and church activity have grown under Eaton’s leadership. Still, he takes no credit, repeatedly telling the outlet it was all God. As for Eaton’s general ministry skills, he took some classes to hone his craft in evangelism but said he typically keeps the message simple, often using the “Romans Road” tool to share the Christian faith — a simple reiteration of Paul sharing the Gospel in the book of Romans. And that simple approach to sharing the truth has made a big impact. According to Kentucky Today, in addition to Eaton growing his current church, he also led around 300 people to the Lord during his 13 years on staff at Central Baptist and Immanuel Baptist and while working as a chaplain at Baptist Health. Read more about his powerful story here. It’s interesting to see pastors keeping things simple and seeing God work. Eaton is hardly alone in his approach, with other pastors and revivalists sharing similar tactics and stories — journeys that should inspire all Christians to realize the Gospel is enough to change hearts and minds. As CBN Digital previously reported, North Carolina preacher Ralph Sproles, who has spent nearly seven decades sharing the Gospel, revealed last month the simple secret he believes is crucial to any preacher’s success. “Just love your people,” Sproles told WGHP-TV. “If you don’t love people, you’re not going to be effective in the ministry.” Sproles, who is in his late 80s and still preaching at revivals and delivering occasional sermons, said this essential lesson is one every pastor must heed. Showing love for a congregation — and for people more generally — is at the very heart of any successful ministry, he said. “I’m a hugging preacher,” he added. “I hug people.” Sproles also spoke about the importance of intentionally vocalizing his care and feelings for others, noting doing so is an expression of true faith and devotion. “I tell people I love them,” he said. “When I see them at church, I say, ‘I want you to know I love you,’ because they don’t hear enough of that. That’s what the Christian life is about.” These pastors’ approach — one rooted in truth and love — is changing hearts and minds

In Tennessee

In Tennessee 'Repent Tents' and 10-Foot Cross to Be Placed at TN Capitol for Non-Stop Prayer: 'Desperation for God' Faith leaders in Tennessee are sending out a "clarion call" to other believers to join them to praise, worship, and intercede for America in hopes of not only seeing a change in the nation but to "advance God's Kingdom" to save the lost. "People from all across our nation are coming to participate with us for this humble outcry of repentance for healing in our land. We are praying that this will not only be a pivotal moment in Tennessee but that many will be inspired to gather in their own cities across America to repent," Barbi Franklin told CBN News. Barbi and her husband, Terry, are founders of Worship City and are hosting "Worship City Repent Tents" on September 28-30 at the Tennessee state capitol's Legislative Plaza for non-stop worship, prayer, and repentance. "This year, our leaders are building and erecting a 10-foot cross right in the center of the main tent perched right in front of the capitol building," Barbi told CBN News. "This will be Tennessee's non-stop altar call, based on 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Ezekiel 22:30... by first calling all Christians to examine their hearts and '...turn from our wicked ways.' And then, to answer God's call to '...stand in the gap' and repent on behalf of our land." The Dove Award-winning singer/songwriters normally host a yearly "tent" gathering that focuses on worship and prayer, but this year as they sought the Lord, He moved them to take this year's event in a different direction. "God is pinpointing in our hearts the most important thing that needs to happen in our nation right now and in our church," Franklin said. She describes that as simply repentance. "Judgment begins in the House of the Lord and there are an awful lot of things that are not godly inside the church," she said. Barbi tells CBN News that at the foot of the 10-foot cross will be a box where people will be able to write personal confessions and then also repent for the sins of the nation. She added, "People [must] realize the key is humbling ourselves. We preach, 'Revival is coming, revival is coming.' But I can tell you revival is not coming until the Church turns from their wicked ways and gets freed up so that we can be the powerful Bride of Christ." - Father, we pray for a mighty move of God at the 'Worship City Repent Tents'. Pour out Your Holy Spirit-Fire upon broken and surrendered hearts as they seek Your face for forgiveness of personal iniquities, sins within the church, the family and throughout our nation. May every prayer and praise-song be a sweet-fragrant offering lifted to Your Holy Throne. We wait upon You and a revealing of Your GLORY bringing a fresh REVIVAL across America! In the mighty and powerful Name of Jesus Christ-Amen. - "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near" (Matthew 3:2)

Coffee

Coffee Coffeeis one of the healthiest things you can put in your body. In fact, some studies have found people who drink coffee have healthier hearts, blood sugar, and it can even help you lose weight. However, there's one thing that counteracts all the health benefits: Adding cream! You see, coffee is so healthy because it's packed with polyphenols which can help activate a host of benefits in your body... including weight loss and digestive benefits. However, dairy can cancel out those effects. In fact, most humans are lactose intolerant after infancy, which means it can actually cause digestive issues. Unfortunately, dairy alternatives are also not great for you... Almond milk contains lectins, which can tear holes in your digestive lining and cause digestive issues. The same is true for oat milk, which contains Gluten, another type of lectin. However, one creamy ingredient can actually be very good for you: Coconut milk Coconuts can contain MCT oils, which can be a fantastic health booster. MCTs actually help your body to burn fat, and convert it to energy. Now, coconut milk is healthy, but there's 3 other foods people should have every morning that actually blow this out of the water. They can help you achieve your weight-loss goals, reduce digestive issues, and have actually been found to activate "ketosis"... WITHOUT cutting any carbs. It's part of how one famous doctor lost 70 pounds, and has kept the weight off for over twenty years.

Security Threat -- The Decline of American Christianity

Security Threat--The Decline of American Christianity by Bill Wilson Several polls tracking faith in America show a dramatic decline in religious beliefs across all demographics except Republicans. Gallup Poll reports that “Among party groups, Republicans are the most likely to identify as religious, with 61% doing so, while 28% say they are spiritual. More independents say they are religious (44%) than spiritual (32%), while Democrats are about equally as likely to say they are spiritual (41%) as religious (37%). Twenty-one percent of both Democrats and independents say they are neither religious nor spiritual, compared with 8% of Republicans.” When Gallup first asked this in 1999, 60% of Democrats and 62% of Republicans identified as religious. But it gets worse. While Republicans remained about the same with their religiosity, Democrats’ identification as religious declined by 23 points. Those Democrats identifying as neither spiritual or religious increased from 7% in 1999 to 21% today—a 300% increase. Independents remained steady in their identification as religious with 44% saying so in both 1999 and the present, but their numbers also increase from 13% to 21%, identifying as neither spiritual or religious—a 38% increase. From a political perspective, this demonstrates that those who identify as more liberal on the political spectrum are less likely to be religious. In 2022, another Gallup survey found “Belief in God has fallen the most in recent years among young adults and people on the left of the political spectrum (liberals and Democrats). “These groups show drops of 10 or more percentage points comparing the 2022 figures to an average of the 2013-2017 polls. Most other key subgroups have experienced at least a modest decline, although conservatives and married adults have had essentially no change. The groups with the largest declines are also the groups that are currently least likely to believe in God, including liberals (62%), young adults (68%) and Democrats (72%). Belief in God is highest among political conservatives (94%) and Republicans (92%), reflecting that religiosity is a major determinant of political divisions in the U.S.” In 2019, Gallup reported that some 43% of Americans viewed socialism as a good thing for America. This compared with 25% in 1942. Gallup said “a majority of Democrats have said they view socialism positively in Gallup polling since 2010, including 57% in the most recent measure in 2018.” The Communist Manifesto says, “But communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience." Socialism and communism depend on replacing God with government. This does not bode well for the national security of the United States. As Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you will not believe, surely you shall not be made secure.” Let us believe. Let us stand. Let us prevail with grace and wisdom. And action.

Filled with the Spirit

Filled with the Spirit by Dr. D. James Kennedy “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18 God gives every Christian the Holy Spirit when he or she accepts Christ as Savior, but not every Christian is filled with the Holy Spirit. Do you know whether you’re filled with the Spirit? Perhaps you wonder how you can know. Paul gives us some answers. In his Epistle to the Ephesians, Paul lists three results of being filled with the Holy Spirit. First of all, we will sing and make melody to the Lord in our hearts as God fills us with His joy. Second, we will give thanks for all things. We will know that the Omnipotent, sovereign God holds us gently in His hands. Nothing can come to us that does not first pass through the filter of His love. Nothing happens to us that He can’t make good. Therefore, by faith, we can give Him thanks for all things. A third result of being filled with the Spirit is that we will submit ourselves one to another in the fear of the Lord. Why does that indicate being filled with the Holy Spirit? Because when we draw close to Jesus Christ, we see our sins clearly; we see how unworthy we are of the least of His favors. Our pride diminishes, and we become filled with humility. We, therefore, willingly submit ourselves to one another. Do you see those results in your life? Whether or not you do, invite the Holy Spirit to fill you today. Some suppose they can be filled with the Holy Spirit once for all time, but such filling needs to occur daily, moment by moment. Ask God right now and each day to fill you with His Holy Spirit, that the Spirit may empower you to serve Him with joy.

Psalm Twelve (12)

Psalm Twelve (12) Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The Art of Bible Reading

The Art of Bible Reading by Dr. D. James Kennedy “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 When you receive a letter from someone you love, you open it right away and read it again and again, right? Well, in your Bible you have sixty-six love letters from God’s heart to yours. What a tremendous profession of His undying love. Don’t you want to read them again and again to get every last nuance of His dedication to you? We need to read our Bibles daily. When God gave manna from Heaven, He told His children not to store it up, but to go out and collect it each day. In the same way, we need to feed ourselves daily on our spiritual food—God’s Word. But despite our good intentions, we often find it difficult to remain dedicated to daily Bible reading. Let me make a few suggestions that may help you delve into God’s love letter to you. First of all, develop a plan for your Bible reading. For example, read from both the Old Testament and the New Testament on the same day, perhaps from the New Testament in the morning and from the Old Testament in the evening. Then take time to meditate on what you just read. Ask yourself, “What did this passage say? Does it communicate a theological doctrine? Is it a command I should obey? A promise I can claim? A warning I should heed? An example I should follow or avoid? How is God trying to speak to my heart?” Then resolve to live by the truth the passage shows you. If you need help understanding what you read, get a good commentary, such as Matthew Henry, which has stood the test of time and blessed thousands of lives. When you interact with other Christians, make a habit of sharing what you’ve learned from your personal Bible reading, and invite your friends to share, too. You can also benefit greatly by studying the Bible with other believers. Sometimes group interaction helps you see a truth you would have missed if you had studied alone. The Bible is an amazing, unique, life-giving Book. If you have neglected to read God’s love letters to you, ask Him to forgive you and to help you become a student of His Word.

Psalm Eleven (11)

Psalm Eleven (11) In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? 2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. 3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? 4 The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 5 The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

Prosperity

Prosperity by Dr. D. James Kennedy “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9–10 God offers us blessings in many different forms. He blesses us with peace, joy, love of family and friends, emotional stability, and a host of other things. But God also promises to provide for all our material needs “out of His riches in glory.” We don’t provide for ourselves from our paychecks, our abilities to make money, or our bank accounts; rather, God takes care of our needs from His riches in glory. Have you (excuse the pun) banked on this promise? So many people worry about paying their bills, but God has promised to make ends meet for us. Yet because they lack faith, many people hold on tightly to what God gives them, and as a result, they rob God of their tithes and offerings. They don’t honor the Lord with their substance by giving as God has instructed. Instead, they withhold from Him the “firstfruits” of their income. Therefore, God withholds His blessing from them. Hear what God says through His prophet Haggai to the ancient Israelites who neglected to tithe: “You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it” (Haggai 1:6, NIV). God doesn’t want us to tithe so He can have our money. He has all He needs. But He wants us to honor Him in this area of our lives. When we give tithes and offerings to God, we exhibit recognition that the Lord has given us everything we have. We give to Him because we’re grateful for all His blessings. Most of all, we give because He has commanded us to do so. We submit ourselves to His will by giving to Him first. God promises to bless those who give faithfully (see Malachi 3:10) and invites us to test Him in this. If you haven’t already, give a tithe of your income, even if you believe you can’t afford it. As you obey Him by tithing, God will pour out His blessings upon you.

Psalm Ten (10)

Psalm Ten (10) Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? 2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. 3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth. 4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. 5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. 6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. 7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. 8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. 9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. 10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. 11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it. 12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble. 13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. 14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless. 15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none. 16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land. 17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: 18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

Thoughts on II Corinthians 5:15

William Wilberforce by Dr. D. James Kennedy “… those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them …” II Corinthians 5:15 Do you have a high and holy cause you’re working toward, one you’d like to see resolved before the end of your life? William Wilberforce, the model Christian statesman of all time, had a cause for which he fought most of his adult life. His dedicated service is an example to all who would reach for a seemingly unattainable goal, one worthy of a lifetime of effort. Wilberforce was born into great wealth and comfort in England in 1759. After attending Cambridge University, he was, at the age of twenty-one, elected into the House of Commons. Wilberforce found life in Christ, and after his conversion, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to freeing the slaves. What drove a man of such wealth and comfort to give of himself so completely? To live for Christ, and thus to live for others, became his consuming passion. His friend William Pitt, the prime minister of England, declared his belief that Wilberforce was the man to lead the way toward the abolition of slavery. Wilberforce believed, after much prayer, that God had spoken to him through his friend, calling him to a lifetime crusade. After intense study, Wilberforce took the floor of Parliament and introduced a bill to abolish slavery. Parliament overwhelmingly defeated Wilberforce’s bill that year, but he didn’t give up. Year after year, Wilberforce fought relentlessly for the emancipation of the slaves, beginning with the abolition of the slave trade. Wilberforce’s bill didn’t pass until at least twenty years after he had begun his crusade. A few years after that bill passed, Parliament passed legislation freeing all the slaves held in all British territories. On that day, seven hundred thousand British slaves were freed. Wilberforce was greatly moved to know that his lifetime of effort had finally resulted in the end he had sought. He thanked God that he had lived long enough to see the final results of his efforts. If you work toward a heartfelt cause, toward fulfilling God’s call on your life, allow Wilberforce’s life to encourage you. Don’t ever give up. What God has called you to, He will most certainly fulfill. “O Heavenly Father, give me a heart like the heart of Jesus Christ, a heart more ready to minister than to be ministered unto, a heart moved by compassion towards the weak and the oppressed.” John Baillie

J.S. Bach

J.S. Bach “… ‘Behold! The Lamb of God …’” — John 1:29 Johann Sebastian Bach is considered the father of classical music and, in the opinion of many, the greatest musician ever to have lived. But he not only wrote and played music excellently, he also sought to glorify God in all he did. For three centuries now, Bach’s music has taken people beyond themselves and toward God. In addition to composing music, Bach also fulfilled countless other obligations. He raised a large family. He taught music on a regular basis. He served as a church musician as well as conductor for the church choir and orchestra. He also fulfilled an obligation to compose new music for every Sunday. He regarded himself as a conscientious craftsman doing a job to the best of his ability for his supervisor’s satisfaction, for others’ pleasure and edification, and above all, for God’s glory. Many historians have noted that all over his manuscripts Bach wrote notations such as “S.D.G.”(Soli Deo Gloria), meaning “Solely to the glory of God” or “I.N.J.”(In Nomine Jesu), meaning “In the name of Jesus.” Throughout his great masterpieces appear these words from Scripture: “Behold! The Lamb of God” (John 1:29). In his music, Bach honored the Lamb of God who had taken away his sin and had given him the peace and joy that pervaded his life … the Lamb of God to whom he ascribed all glory and to whom he appealed every day. According to Bach, music was worship, and he told his music pupils that unless they committed their talents to the Lord Jesus Christ they’d never become great musicians. J. S. Bach did not live for fame or fortune. He lived for God’s glory. That focus pervaded his life. We, too, should have this goal as our singular focus. “Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence.” J. S. Bach

Psalm Nine (9)

Psalm Nine (9) (To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.) I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. 3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence. 4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right. 5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever. 6 O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them. 7 But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. 8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. 9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings. 12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble. 13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death: 14 That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation. 15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. 16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. 17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. 18 For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. 19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. 20 Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Vote Wisely, America!

Victor David Hansen is brilliant and we are fools if we don't heed his words. The next election may be the only one left if we don't as a nation come to our senses. Biden has enriched himself by betraying his nation in a myriad of ways. The Chinese and Russians didn't merely hand millions of dollars to him and his corrupt son for nothing! TRUMP HAS REDUCED HIS FORTUNE IN HIS EFFORT TO RESTORE CONSTITUTIONAL LAW AND HONOR TO AMERICA! The media touts the one and ignores his vile schemes while vilifying the other. Biden is the most corrupt criminal to ever occupy the Oval Office and TRUMP'S HOME IS RAIDED! GET OUT AND VOTE, AMERICA! THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE!

Thoughts by Victor Davis Hanson

The Coup We Never Knew Did someone or something seize control of the United States? By: Victor Davis Hanson What happened to the U.S. border? Where did it go? Who erased it? Why and how did 5 million people enter our country illegally? Did Congress secretly repeal our immigration laws? Did Joe Biden issue an executive order allowing foreign nationals to walk across the border and reside in the United States as they pleased? Since when did borrowed money not have to be paid back? Who insisted that the more dollars the federal government printed, the more prosperity would follow? When did America embrace zero interest? Why do we believe $30 trillion in debt is no big deal? When did clean-burning, cheap, and abundant natural gas become the equivalent of dirty coal? How did prized natural gas that had granted America’s wishes of energy self-sufficiency, reduced pollution, and inexpensive electricity become almost overnight a pariah fuel whose extraction was a war against nature? Which lawmakers, which laws, which votes of the people declared natural gas development and pipelines near criminal? Was it not against federal law to swarm the homes of Supreme Court justices, to picket and to intimidate their households in efforts to affect their rulings? How then, and with impunity, did bullies surround the homes of Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, John Roberts, and Clarence Thomas—furious over a court decision on abortion? How could these mobs so easily throng our justices’ homes, with placards declaring “Off with their d—s”? Since when did Americans create a government Ministry of Truth? And on whose orders did the FBI contract private news organizations to censor stories it did not like and writers whom it feared? How did we wake up one morning to new customs of impeaching a president over a phone call? Of the speaker of the House tearing up the State of the Union address on national television? Of barring congressional members from serving on their assigned congressional committees? When did we assume the FBI had the right to subvert the campaign of a candidate it disliked? Was it suddenly legal for one presidential candidate to hire a foreign ex-spy to subvert the campaign of her rival? Was some state or federal law passed that allowed biological males to compete in female sports? Did Congress enact such a law? Did the Supreme Court guarantee that biological male students could shower in gym locker rooms with biological women? Were women ever asked to redefine the very sports they had championed? When did the government pass a law depriving Americans of their freedom during a pandemic? In America can health officials simply cancel rental contracts or declare loan payments in suspension? How could it become illegal for mom-and-pop stores to sell flowers or shoes during a quarantine but not so for Walmart or Target? Since when did the people decide that 70 percent of voters would not cast their ballots on Election Day? Was this revolutionary change the subject of a national debate, a heated congressional session, or the votes of dozens of state legislatures? No, of course not. What happened to Election Night returns? Did the fact that Americans created more electronic ballots and computerized tallies make it take so much longer to tabulate the votes? When did the nation abruptly decide that theft is not a crime, assault not a felony? How can thieves walk out with bags of stolen goods, without the wrath of angry shoppers, much less fear of the law? Was there ever a national debate about the terrified flight from Afghanistan? Who planned it and why? And today, the current administration (Biden) is blaming former President Trump for that disaster! What happened to the once-trusted FBI? Why almost overnight did its directors decide to mislead Congress, to deceive judges with concocted tales from fake dossiers and with doctored writs? Did Congress pass a law that our federal leaders in the FBI or CIA could lie under oath with impunity? Were Americans ever asked whether their universities could discriminate against their sons and daughters based on their race? How did it become physically dangerous to speak the truth on a campus? How did that happen in America? How did a virus cancel the Constitution? Did the lockdowns rob us of our sanity? Or was it the woke hysteria that ignited our collective madness? We are beginning to wake up from a nightmare of a country we no longer recognize, and from a coup we neither knew about nor recognized.

How Will You Stand?

How Will YOU Stand? by Bill Wilson Those who hold to a Judeo-Christian worldview are being pushed into a corner. Biblical values are increasingly being characterized as racist, bigoted, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, misogynist, climate deniers, election deniers, and just plain hate-filled. Whatever the topic, if there is a biblical worldview discussed, it is labeled as something detrimental to society. More and more, the biblical worldview is being pushed into a corner. Bank accounts of Christian organizations are being closed by big banks because the banks don’t agree with pro-life stances or that homosexuality is sin. False narratives are being pushed about Christians settling this country to proliferate slavery. It just never ends. If you are a parent concerned about public school-sanctioned sexual predation on your children, you are labeled homophobic or transphobic. The public schools should be allowed to teach, groom, and recruit your child into a lifestyle that has the highest suicide rate in the country, and you are a hatemonger if you don’t comply with it. Never mind that the inerrant and infallible Word of God tells us in many places that these sexual practices are an abomination. They say Christians are haters because they just don’t understand that suppressing perceived gender rather than promoting birth gender is what really causes suicidal thoughts. Parents are being pushed into a corner where the immoral assume they are holding the high ground. Even the Biden Administration is trying to paint these parents as domestic terrorists. The news media goes after Christians at every turn. As an example, The Media Research Center reported September 7 that MSNBC Guest Robert Jones went on “The Reid Out” and called Christianity a religion that justifies slavery and genocide. Jones was claiming that the Catholic church’s “Discovery Doctrine” from the “highest power of the Christian church” in the 1400s empowered Christians to “occupy, conquer, kill, steal” and put people in “perpetual slavery.” Host Joy Reid agreed and stated that this document motivated the landing on American shores and is still practiced today. This is just false. The Pilgrims, for example, recognized the evil in these doctrines, separated themselves from it and were escaping religious persecution in Europe. There is nothing in their documents that justifies slavery and genocide—quite the opposite. Any “Christian” doctrine—implied or otherwise--that would justify stealing, killing, enslaving, and that non-Christians have no human rights is a doctrine of satan. God is the God of freedom. As is written in Galatians 3:28,”There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” When we are to preach the gospel to all creatures, these precepts must convey to all. Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Using what evil men did in the name of Christ to paint all Christians with the same brush is wrong. Those who mock God and believe that the biblical worldview is hateful are pushing good people into a corner unjustly. The question is, how are we going to stand?

Psalm Eight (8)

Psalm Eight (8) (To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.) O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. 2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. 3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: 7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; 8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. 9O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Talk to the Boss

Talk to the Boss by Dr. D. James Kennedy “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 Do you have a concern today? Does something burden your heart? Well, whatever it is, cast your care upon God, for He cares about you and can do something about your concern. Some years ago, I read an interesting book by an unbeliever who attempted to “do in” the Christian faith. Despite his lack of belief, I found insightful something he said regarding prayer. This author called prayer the most incredible conceit in the history of humankind. He argued that if you worked for General Motors as a lowly employee and wanted to see the boss, you’d not have even the remotest chance of ever entering the boss’ office. Think about it. What would happen if a citizen tried to speak to the President of the United States? I’ve thought about putting in a person-to-person call just to see what would happen. I’d probably speak to an undersecretary of an assistant to somebody, but not likely to the president. “And so,” says my skeptical friend in his book, “what an incredible conceit it is to suppose that at any moment we can talk to the boss of the whole shebang.” Well, the concept of prayer would be an incredible conceit … if it weren’t true. But it is true, and it’s the most incredible condescension on the part of a gracious God. Have you ever thought about it? You could probably never speak to the highly placed people in this world, yet the most highly placed Person in all the universe—“the Boss of the whole shebang”— waits patiently to hear what you have to say to Him. Don’t you find that amazing? So remember, this day and every day, you have the great privilege of prayer. You can “talk to the Boss.” Tell the Boss your worries and cares. Share with Him your triumphs and joys. He always has time to listen to you.

Believing the Propaganda

Believing the Propaganda by Bill Wilson If you watch any television at all, you can see that Pfizer and Moderna have plenty of money to spend in prime time to tell about their new COVID approach, which is mixed with images of how much they really care about our personal well being. Their bank accounts before COVID were reportedly headed to disaster, but the mRNA COVID shot rescued them and put them in good financial health. No more is this apparent than the questionable government-big pharma partnership that fuels this propaganda. Just last week the Food and Drug Administration approved the new shots and the Centers for Disease Control authorized Moderna and Pfizer to make them publicly available. Now we all can live another year. Joe Biden even got in on the act. In a statement from the White House on September 12, Biden said, “Since entering office, my Administration has made historic progress in our ability to manage COVID-19 so that it no longer meaningfully disrupts our lives. Today marks another important milestone. Following an independent scientific review, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have now authorized, approved, and recommended everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against serious illness this fall and winter. As we head into fall and winter, we are in our strongest position yet with more tools and systems available than ever before – including safe and effective vaccines, widely available at-home tests, and effective treatments.” Biden went on to claim, “Vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most important protection in avoiding hospitalization, long-term health complications, and death. I encourage all Americans to stay up-to-date on their vaccines.” And his Administration is right in there with Moderna and Pfizer with an ad campaign that tries to give us all the assurance that these vaccines are safe and effective. In fact, these drug companies are able to point people to the CDC “Bridge Access Program” for adults with no health insurance to get a free COVID vaccine. And there is “Vaccines.gov” to assist you in finding a location near you to get your shot. Let’s think about this. Recent reports indicate that the FDA knew that the shots had dangerous side effects of myocarditis, pericarditis, blood clots and caused abortions, but withheld that data from the public. The mRNA shot neither prevented COVID nor stopped the spread of COVID nor prevented hospitalization. In fact, data currently show that vaccinated people are increasingly hospitalized for COVID. The White House and CDC want everyone six months and older to get the shot every six months. WHAT? Moderna and Pfizer are still using fear to sell these shots and they are making a financial killing doing it. Now you choose what you want to do, but this whole thing is built on fear and profit, not on sound science. As Romans 16:18 states: “For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” Believing the propaganda of companies that prosper exhorbatantly from our gulibility is the epitome of foolishness. Do your research. Reach your own conclusions on what is best for you and your family.

Psalm Seven (7)

Psalm Seven (7) O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: 2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. 3 O Lord my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; 4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) 5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah. 6 Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. 7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high. 8 The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. 9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. 10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. 11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. 12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. 13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. 14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. 15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. 16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. 17 I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.

We Need This Reminder

We Need This Reminder bu Dr. Jim Denison Billy Miller, an actor who played Marcus Specter on Suits and won three Emmy awards for his role in The Young and the Restless, died by suicide last Friday in Austin, Texas, at the age of forty-three. His mother stated that he “surrendered his life” after “a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression.” The number of deaths by suicide in the US increased last year to the highest rate ever. Globally, a person dies by suicide every forty seconds. Gallup notes that depression rates in the US have reached their highest levels ever reported. These facts can seem overwhelming. What can you and I do to make a practical difference in our hurting world? One biblical answer is both counterintuitive and countercultural, but it offers hope we can embrace and share with those who need it most today. “In its welfare you will find your welfare” Peter called his fellow believers “sojourners and exiles” (1 Peter 2:11). The former describes someone who is a foreigner or stranger; the latter refers to temporary residents. Taken together, they remind us that this world is not our home and that we are only here for a short time. How are we to live in this foreign land? The Lord’s letter to his Jewish exiles in Babylon is instructive (Jeremiah 29). It was preserved in Scripture because it has value not just for its original readers twenty-six centuries ago but for all readers across all times and cultures. It begins: “Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce” (v. 5). This is the opposite of what they might have expected. Rather than finding temporary shelter, they were to construct lasting structures in which to “live” (the Hebrew is literally translated as “sit down and remain”). Creating gardens takes time, but they were not only to plant them but to “eat their produce” in the years to come. In addition, they were to “take wives and have sons and daughters” to fulfill God’s call that they “multiply there, and do not decrease” (v. 6). Rather than allowing their nation to wither in exile, they were to seek to grow and prosper. Now comes the most shocking instruction of all: “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lᴏʀᴅ on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare” (v. 7). “Seek” means to “run diligently after”; the “welfare” of the city refers to its peace, prosperity, health, and success. The exiles were to do all they could to promote the Babylonian city’s welfare and then to “pray to the Lᴏʀᴅ on its behalf” that he might do what they could not. The reason was simple: “In its welfare you will find your welfare.” Three ways to “seek the welfare” of our city One response to the brokenness of our secularized culture is to withdraw into spiritual “huddles” with little concern for those outside our circle. But this ignores our commission to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). And it impoverishes us while denying others the good we can offer them in Christ. What are some biblical ways we can “seek the welfare” of our broken culture? One: “Show kindness and mercy to one another” (Zechariah 7:9). As the sign-holding man in Jacksonville reminds us, we cannot know the larger impact of a single act of encouragement and affirmation. Two: “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another” (1 Peter 4:10). John Grove argues persuasively in Public Discourse: “We do not need more self-conscious crusaders for the nation or even for Western Civilization, but instead more priests, teachers, businessmen, artists, writers, and parents who perform their own activities faithfully, serving . . . as ‘leaven for the whole lump.’” Three: “Bring salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47). Paul was “not ashamed of the gospel” because it is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). According to Tim Keller, “The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” How to love well Christians have a unique gift for our culture today: we alone can demonstrate the kindness of Christ by offering our best service to hurting souls while sharing the good news of God’s love. But we cannot love well until we embrace the fact that we are well loved. To that end, let’s close with this intercession from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer: “Help us so to know you that we may truly love you, and so to love you that we may fully serve you, whose service is perfect freedom.” Will you join me in offering these words from your heart to your Father today?

Fellowship with the Father

Fellowship with the Father by Dr. D. James Kennedy “That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3 Do you realize how much God wants to have fellowship with you? It’s difficult to imagine, but it’s true. He loves you and wants to be with you far more than you could ever dream. What can we do to meet Him halfway, to play our part in developing fellowship with God? A story by the English evangelist Charles Spurgeon may hold the answer. Suppose a great plague comes to London. People are dying everywhere. Those who are still alive feel such terror that they’ve boarded themselves up in their homes. Suppose an English nobleman has a son who is a great physician. Together they determine to help as many people as they can. The son searches for the sick and brings them to the house he and his father share. The father smiles approvingly at the son’s compassion. The son goes out again and again, searching for victims. Suppose one day the son finds you lying hopelessly on a street corner. He picks you up tenderly in his arms and takes you to his home. As you recover, you begin to realize that nothing in the world compares to the work happening in that house. So you enter into a sympathetic understanding of the father and son’s mission. Yet if you want to actually enter into fellowship with that great man and his son, you must go further. You must come to the place where you ask them how you can help. When you do, they give you the task of carrying basins and bringing towels. You now have some part in their fellowship, yet you cannot understand it fully until the day you say, “Sir, I see that what you are doing is the only thing in life that really matters. I want to give my whole self over to it. I want to go out and join your son in bringing in the sick.” At that point, my friend, you begin to enter into and understand the deep mystery of fellowship with the father and his son. If you’d like to enter into a deeper fellowship with the Father and His Son, ask God to show you the first step you should take. Ask Him to send someone into your life whom you can bring to Him.

Psalm Six (6)

(To the chief Musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.) O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. 2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. 3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? 4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake. 5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? 6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. 7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. 8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. 9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. 10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

His Second Coming

His Second Advent by Dr. D. James Kennedy “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see him, and they also who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him …” Revelation 1:7 Have you ever noticed how different people perceive the same event as either good news or bad news depending on their perspectives? Well, when Christ comes again, that’s exactly what will happen. When Jesus came the first time, He brought good news for all the world. He came to prepare a way for us to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Freely He offered Himself to us, even unto death on the cruel cross. And through these twenty centuries, He has continued to reach down from Heaven with His pierced hands to lift up human souls. But when Christ comes again, the time of grace will have ended. All who have given their lives to Christ will rejoice, for they shall finally go to their true home, Heaven. But all who do not belong to Christ will experience the most awful disaster possible. They will lose everything in that hour. Nonbelievers even now realize they will have no hope when faced with the end of the world as we know it. “The best we can hope for,” said the unbelieving British philosopher Bertrand Russell, “is unyielding despair.” The French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre echoed, “Unyielding despair, and upon this foundation, we must build our lives.” Nobel Prize-winning scientist and evolutionist Harold Clayton Urey said, “I am a frightened man myself. All the scientists I know are frightened—frightened for their lives— and frightened for your life.” In that day when the stars begin to fall, the unbeliever’s fear will be justified; for destruction and everlasting fire will descend upon those who did not believe in Christ. But today the sun of His grace still shines in the sky, and the offer of salvation still stands: “Come unto me,” He says, “and I will give you rest.” I encourage you to share this offer of salvation with friends and family who have yet to believe. Strive that, in that moment that Christ returns, all around you may experience His coming as good news.

Four Broken Women

Four women: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. One had affairs, one was a prostitute, one lied, one was an adulteress... none of them were starry eyed perfect princesses. Four broken women. And yet God chose them... these four broken women, to be grandmothers in Jesus’ family tree. He crowned them with grace and love. Queens for His kingdom. Today you may feel broken. You may feel like an outsider, a has-been, a never-been. Weary of being taken advantage of, of being unnoticed, uncherished, and unappreciated. Like you don’t fit in, like you don’t know how to keep going, or what to believe, or where to go. You may feel like you want to give up. And yet God chooses you. He grafts you into His line, His story, and His heart. He gives you His name, His lineage, and His righteousness. He calls you His very own.

Fight for AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!

Tucker Carlson just issued a bone-chilling warning for every American who wants the nation to “continue to exist” The United States is facing some perilous times ahead. And some leading political observers are saying we may be on the final legs of this once great constitutional republic. And now Tucker Carlson just issued a bone-chilling warning for every American who wants the nation to “continue to exist.” Former Fox News superstar Tucker Carlson has been in the news a lot since he was unceremoniously fired by the now-struggling network. Headed in the wrong direction Carlson has even seen his new Tucker on X program get more viewers than his Fox News show generated. There is no doubt Carlson is the most influential host in American media today, and he’s only becoming more popular the longer he’s away from Fox News. Now, Carlson has some very serious advice for conservatives and liberty-lovers across the nation. Of course, it’s not a secret that under Biden our nation is headed in the wrong direction. The economy is getting worse by the day as prices continue to rise thanks to socialist policies being forced on the nation by President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats. Democrats’ weaponization of the Department of Justice, FBI, and the rest of the federal government is worse than ever. We have more division, tension, and corruption now than ever before, and more and more Americans are afraid to even speak out under threat of violence and persecution at the hands of woke extremists. Two things all Americans must do Carlson is very aware of the problems our nation is facing, and recently he had some advice for how we can change the direction of the country. “The two things you need to do are organize and speak with total honesty, clarity, and aggression,” Carlson said. “Neither one of those things is easy,” he admitted. “Complaining is easy, watching television is easy, eating with people you agree with and grousing is really easy. But none of those things change the outcome. You need to act, you need to speak, and you need to organize, and before you can do either one of those, you need to recognize the consequences, the stakes.” As Carlson said, “You may lose some friends, experience rejection, or be demonized, but what’s the cost if you fail to act and speak?” As he correctly points out, it’s about much, much more than that. Here’s what it’s all about: “It’s about the most fundamental question of all, which is can you have children?” Carlson said. “Will they live in a world where they can afford to get married themselves and have children? And will those children live where you have lived?” “Will the world that produced you continue to exist? The answer is no,” he added. “With bad leadership, it won’t; everything is at stake.” And fellow conservative spokesman Dave Rubin weighed in as well. “Fight for the right things, guys,” Rubin said. “That’s the point.”

Rejoice

Rejoice by Dr. D. James Kennedy “… sorrowful, yet always rejoicing …” 2 Corinthians 6:10 In the midst of a recent illness, at a time when I felt such pain that tears coursed down my cheeks and fell to the floor, I could honestly say to my wife, “I believe that God is good and will yet lift me up out of this.” And in my heart, in the midst of the pain and tears, I rejoiced in God’s goodness. I rejoice because my faith rests upon those things that God has told me; therefore, no matter what my circumstances are, I always have something to rejoice about. How can God command us to rejoice when we feel miserable? One reason is very clear: A joyful Christian serves as the best possible testimony for Jesus Christ. When we rejoice, the world sees that Christ has fulfilled His promise to give us His joy abundantly. That joy goes beyond what we can summon up within ourselves and cannot be diluted by the challenges life hands us. Paul wrote his famous words, “Rejoice in the Lord always” while in the depths of a Roman prison. He was in chains, awaiting a capital trial. His prospects were dreary, his hope almost nonexistent, and his comforts nil. Yet despite all this, he said, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” The secret, of course, is found in the words “in the Lord.” So many people seek happiness and do not find it. Happiness is determined by happenings, and happenings fluctuate constantly; they are ever-changing and ever-shifting about us. But if we seek Jesus, we will find joy. He is the wellspring and the source of all joy. Rejoice in your circumstances? No. Rejoice in the Lord … in His goodness … in His grace … in His mercy … in His patience … in His faithfulness. We rejoice in what He has done for us on the cross and through His resurrection. That is the secret of rejoicing, of singing and making a melody in your heart to the Lord in all circumstances. Do you have that joy today? Whatever your circumstances, seek the Lord and allow Him to give you His joy.

Thoughts on Jesus

Thoughts on JESUS by C.S. Lewis Other than few nice moral notes like:” love your enemy, love your neighbour and don’t do unto others”, most of Jesus’s teaching is about a relationship with God. The whole claim of Christianity hinges on Jesus Christ being the Lord, risen from the dead. If He isn’t God, than He would be the worst kind of madman, or a demon. To ask what He asks of His followers, to speak of God so openly and so intimately, like a Son would talk of His Father and to invite those who follow Him to gladly face persecution…unless divine, He would be the worst kind of monster.

Psalm Five

Psalm Five (5) (To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.) Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. 4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. 5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. 7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. 8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. 9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. 10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. 11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

The Legend Theory

The Legend Theory by Dr. D. James Kennedy “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.” 2 Peter 1:16 If you’ve been a Christian long enough, you’ve more than likely had, at one time or another, a conversation with a skeptic claiming that Christianity is based on myths. Unfortunately, a lot of anti-Christian voices have arisen in our culture, even among seminary professors and “Bible scholars.” Many of these people believe the “legend theory,” the idea that the “myths” surrounding Christ, His miracles, and His resurrection just gradually evolved over the decades and centuries. This view, popular in the nineteenth century, largely collapsed in the twentieth century with the rise of modern archaeology. Even secular historians point out that the Church of Jesus Christ began in A.D. 33 in Jerusalem because the apostles preached a crucified and resurrected Christ. The apostles focused their teaching on this fact. And they had no time for myth making or legend spinning. As Peter said, “We were eyewitnesses.” John said, speaking of Jesus, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled . . . we declare to you” (1 John 1:1, 3). The apostles spoke of that which they had experienced. What’s more, most of the apostles died deaths that testified to their absolute belief in what they proclaimed. They were crucified; they were stoned. And they endured all this for believing a legend which hadn’t even developed, which wouldn’t develop for another 100 or 150 years? That’s absurd. As well, according to Josh McDowell, eighteen different first-century pagan writers present more than a hundred facts about Christ—His birth, teachings, miracles, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. These secular authors corroborate the disciples’ claims, the claims that have endured for centuries, the claims you and I make as Christians. Christianity is no legend that built up over the centuries. It’s the truth. If people challenge you for believing in a so-called myth, you can rest assured that the Bible contains the reliable account of Christ’s life. No legend could ever come close to emulating such incredible truth.

Psalm Five (5)

Psalm Five (5) 1. (To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.) Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.

The Church in Your House

The Church in Your House by Dr. D. James Kennedy “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand . . . You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19 A woman once told me, “When I was a child, we didn’t have family devotions in our home, but I had a friend in the neighborhood who did. I often visited her and sat and watched as this family lifted their hearts together to God. My soul was touched. I vowed I would never marry a man who couldn’t pray and lead in family worship. God answered that prayer, and I have such a man.” What a blessing. Do you worship with your family on a regular basis? Some families make such family time a part of their weekly schedules. Others don’t, not because they lack the desire, but because they don’t know what to do. So let me suggest ways you can incorporate worship time into the life of your family. First of all, set aside a worship time when every family member, including your young children, can participate; some families choose to do this after a meal. I believe that the spiritual head of the family should lead the devotion. As you enter into this time, encourage attitudes of joy, love, and peace—including peace with each another. If any family members have unresolved conflicts with each other, encourage them to come to peaceful terms before this time of unified devotion before God. Worship times can have a variety of formats, and I recommend that you vary your own format over time to keep things interesting. Each time you have a family devotion, you might want to choose a specific topic to address such as integrity, purity, or honesty. Whatever topic you choose, focus on meditating upon the Word of God. You can do this in a variety of ways such as reading from a Bible, a children’s Bible, or a hymnal. If possible, pray, sing, and memorize Bible verses, as well. I know of one family that keeps track of prayer requests and God’s answers to those requests. They feel blessed as they see God at work in their lives. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to institute a regular family worship time. Family worship can bring blessed peace into your home, binding all family members together in love and understanding. Ask your family today how you can bring worship into your home regularly.

John Knox

John Knox by Dr. D. James Kennedy “And this is eternal life … Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” — John 17:3 How fervently do you wish for our nation to know God? Do you desire it so much that you’re willing to pray, “Oh, God, give me America, or I die.” What tremendous things God could do in this country if we all prayed that prayer. Five hundred years ago, Scotsman John Knox, one of the great Reformers, prayed, “Great God, give me Scotland, or I die.” Knox lived at a time of tremendous religious turmoil. People confused about Christianity persecuted those who tried to spread the truth. In fact, the great turning point in Knox’s life came when he watched his spiritual mentor, George Wishart, suffer a horrible death by being burned at the stake for preaching the Gospel. From this point in his life, Knox knew that God had called him to the ministry of Jesus Christ. And he, too, suffered persecution. Not soon after delivering his first sermon, the French, who had come ashore as part of a religious war, took Knox captive. Knox suffered the fate of a galley slave, chained to the rowing bench of a French war vessel. After managing to secure a pardon, he fled from Scotland and went to Geneva where he translated the Scriptures from Hebrew to English. From Knox’s work (along with the help of others), we received the blessing of the Geneva Bible. At this time, Mary, Queen of Scots had persecuted as heretics people all over Scotland. And yet John Knox had the desire to bring even her to Christ. People were astonished when Knox entered the queen’s castle and challenged her with the Gospel’s truth. Those who stood nearby could not believe that Knox had no fear of a woman who had the power and desire to send him to the stake. Yet even Mary, Queen of Scots came to fear Knox and his great intellect. Knox’s anchor, God’s Word, had held strong through his long and stormy life. What a great example to each of us is John Knox’s faith and courage in Jesus Christ. Today pray that God would give us our country, and that more and more people would give their hearts and souls to Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord for courage to do your part in bringing salvation to this nation.

Original Names

How is it that the disciples of Jesus all had English names, Matthew, Mark, Luke, etc., but not an Abdul among them? They hadn’t. Matthew’s original name was Matityahu Mark’s was Marqos Luke’s was Lūqās. Not even Jesus’s original name was Jesus but Yēšūă. The names were latinized from Greek or Hebrew and the Latin names were then anglicized.

We Won't Get Fooled Again

We Won't Get Fooled Again by Bill Wilson There is a 1971 song by The Who titled “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The lyrics to the chorus go: “I’ll tip my hat to the new Constitution. Take a bow for the new revolution. Smile and grin at the change all around. Pick up my guitar and play. Just like yesterday. Then I’ll get on my knees and pray, We don’t get fooled again. No, no.” America is on the brink of getting fooled again. Gathering from all the chatter on the street and the people wearing masks, schools requiring students to wear masks and keep their distance from one another, and all the proclamations from government officials about COVID, it looks to me like America learned very little from the COVID disaster of government control and lies, yes lies. There are many who made the “educated” decision to take the experimental mRNA shots to ward off COVID death. The government, in collusion with the news media and many large corporations, spread the fear that we were all going to die of COVID if we didn’t take the mRNA serum that was safe and effective. Turns out, that it was neither safe nor effective. The shot didn’t prevent people from getting COVID. It didn’t prevent the spread of COVID. It didn’t work against any COVID variants. It didn’t prevent hospitalization. And, in many cases, the mRNA shot didn’t prevent death. In fact, studies indicate that the shot likely caused many to die. Now many who took the shot do not want to believe the studies, but the facts do not lie. It’s people’s belief in their own truth that often lies. And in the case of COVID, it could be deadly. Numerous studies indicate that side effects of the mRNA shot included blood clots, pericarditis and myocarditis—all could possibly lead to death. These side effects were known by the drug companies and the government as early as December 2020 when the Food and Drug Administration granted Pfizer/BioNTech Emergency Use Authorization for the experimental mRNA shot. A confidential Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine adverse event report to the FDA dated April 3, 2021 that I recently obtained indicated as of February 28, 2021 there were 42,086 reports of 158,893 adverse events from the Pfizer COVID vaccine—all withheld from the public. The Appendix of the report listed 9 pages--472 lines and 2072 words--of “Adverse Events of Special Interest.” Pfizer concluded, however,: “This cumulative case review does not raise new safety issues.” Now, a scientific analysis of deaths from Pfizer’s report published on PREPRINTS.org, a platform dedicated to making early versions of research permanently available and citable, indicates “evidence of an over 3.7-fold increase in number of deaths due to cardiovascular events in BNT162b2 vaccinated subjects compared to Placebo controls. This significant adverse event signal was not reported by Pfizer/BioNTech.” Another study indicates the mRNA shot significantly reduces immune responses to other pathogens. Documents obtained by Freedom of Information Act show that the FDA and CDC hid from the public the data that 63% of COVID-hospitalized people 65 and older were vaccinated. The Epoch Times reports the CDC paid $11.8 million to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to tell people that the vaccines were safe and effective for pregnant women and new mothers. The aforementioned Pfizer report to the FDA documented “Pregnancy outcomes for the 270 pregnancies were reported as spontaneous abortion (23), outcome pending (5), premature birth with neonatal death, spontaneous abortion with intrauterine death (2 each), spontaneous abortion with neonatal death, and normal outcome (1 each).” Today, we have Joe Biden calling for everybody to take the new COVID shot, selling fear of new variants. As Christ said in Matthew 24:4, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” In fact, we all better get down on our knees and pray we won’t get fooled again.

Psalm Four

Psalm Four (To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. 2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. 3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. 4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. 6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. 7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. 8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. < Previous ChapterNext Chapter >

Unseducible

The Unseducible by Dr. D. James Kennedy “… that she caught him by his garment, saying, ‘Lie with me.’ But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.” Genesis 39:12 Have you ever thought about what makes someone a hero? A hero is brave against all odds. A hero will fight for what’s right, even it if costs his or her reputation, health, wealth, power, social position, or even life. Joseph was a hero. Even though he lived centuries before God gave the Israelites the Ten Commandments, Joseph knew what God’s law required, and he lived by it. The evil practices of Egypt had not corrupted him. When Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him, Joseph said, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” He called a spade a spade. And in the face of temptation, he fled. But Joseph was punished for his honesty, thrown into prison for a crime he did not commit. At this point in time, Joseph could have reasoned that if God had not abandoned him when He allowed Joseph to be sold as a slave, He had certainly abandoned him now. But Joseph heroically kept believing and trusting in God. Have you ever thought of what the results might have been if Joseph had yielded to temptation? He wouldn’t have been cast into prison where he met the baker and cupbearer and interpreted their dreams. Pharaoh wouldn’t have summoned Joseph to interpret his dreams of cows and haystacks. Pharaoh wouldn’t have made Joseph the second-highest official in Egypt, commissioned to gather food in preparation for the famine. God would have had to fulfill His purposes in some other way. Our obedience to God can have far-reaching consequences; in the same way, our disobedience to Him can have devastating effects. In Joseph’s case, we see that a young man’s fidelity, refusing to compromise his honor with a lustful woman, resulted in enormous good. Do you face strong temptations today? Don’t yield to them. Instead, flee from them. God will bless you for remaining true to his Word.

Psalm Three

Psalm Three (A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.) LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Climate Change

Climate Change by Bill Wilson On Tuesday, August 8, in a response to Weather Channel Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams interview question about whether Joe Biden would declare a national emergency on climate change, Biden said, “I’ve already done that, the national emergency--we’ve conserved more land, we’ve moved into--we’ve rejoined the Paris Climate Accord, we’ve passed a 368 billion-dollar climate control [initiative]. We’re moving. It is the existential threat to humanity.” A month later on September 2, Biden toured the Hurricane Idalia damage in Florida and reminded reporters, “There’s no real intelligence to deny the impacts of the climate crisis anymore.” Some 1,600 scientists of the Global Climate Intelligence Group disagree. On August 14, in a jointly signed world climate declaration, 1,609 scientist from around the world said, “There is no climate emergency. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures. The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet has existed, with natural cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.” The scientists said, “Climate policy relies on inadequate climate models. Climate models have many shortcomings and are not remotely plausible as policy tools. They do not only exaggerate the effect of greenhouse gases, they also ignore the fact that enriching the atmosphere with CO2 is beneficial.” They emphatically stated that there is no statistical evidence that global warming has increased natural disasters and concluded that “There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050.” In fact, they state that because CO2 is not a pollutant, but a plant food, “it is essential to all life on earth.” In June, 2009, I reported that the computers at the Hadley Climate Research Unit, the linchpin of global warming science, housed over 1,000 emails and 72 documents showing how scientists manipulated, suppressed, deleted and lied about the entire global warming theory. That was 14 years ago and the world was supposed to end in 15 years, according to some of these so-called scientists. After the great flood of Noah’s time, God promised in Genesis 8:22, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” Only God the Creator has power to destroy earth. Man is its steward. And we should not be deceived by men who are using fear to create a new religion and social order.
