Those who choose the life of a soldier choose a hard thing. The families of soldiers also bear a heavy burden. And their fellow countrymen, patriots, who understand the rigors they endure to protect the nation that they serve spend much time in prayer for those who wear the military man's uniform.
Today we mourn six of our own. Today we weep for six of our nation's servicemen who gave their lives in the line of duty. Our tears are shed for their families--the parents, the wives, the children, the friends who will not have the joy of welcoming them home.
But we know there is another 'home.' We know there is a mansion
prepared for those who have placed their lives at the feet of JESUS. We
know that to them HE will say upon their arrival in glory, "Well done,
thou good and faithful servant."
We don't know when the Holy One will call us to Himself. We do not know the day or the hour that He has chosen to return to this Vale of Tears and redeem those for whom He died. But we do know that we have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who is with us in all times. And no matter the condition of the world.
We can draw comfort, even in times of mourning the fallen, from His promise in Matthew 28:20, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
