Lead Me to the ROCK

Laughing at politicians is easy...they supply the material, we just have to be objective enough to 'get it' when they lapse into 'humor mode.'

It isn't easy to want to laugh in times like these, however. People essentially want their politicians to be rock solid, wide awake and resolute regarding the needs that are facing the world today. BUT...

...There are among us, terrorists who hate. There are among us, angry people who, when sufficiently provoked, will take the law into their own hands. There are among us, those who abuse the law they have sworn to uphold.

Laughing isn't easy.

We long for a simpler time and place when communities enjoyed a shared value system. We yearn for a simpler day when the world was larger and those whose expectations of life were different from ours didn't have access to our homes, our places of business, our lives.

It is easy to become overwhelmed with anxiety when the problems unfolding before us every day are so beyond our ability to control, but there is a solution to the insoluble dilemma facing mankind today. That solution is the same as it has always been.

Believers have a hope that overcomes the problems of the day, just as they did when the Romans sacked Jerusalem; just as they did when the Nazis goosestepped through Europe; just as they did when the Cold War threatened nuclear annihilation. That hope is JESUS.

The immutable Word of the True and Living GOD extends the same assurance to us today as those of past generations leaned upon at the hour of destruction.

We may say as they did, "When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I." That ROCK is JESUS.
