Any educator can affirm that much of what is served on school lunch trays goes into the trash.
Is that because of the quality of the food? Perhaps.
What is shown on this video substantiates the assertion that the quality of food served in school cafeterias in AMERICA is a distant second from the quality of that presented to children in other industrial nations.
Another possibility is the fact that many youngsters receive a 'free lunch.' They haven't invested anything into it so they do not value it. Not only is it given to them free of cost, but it is also free of any investment of time or effort on their part. Unlike many students abroad who prepare their own food, American children do not.

Perhaps
part of what we need to teach to our children includes not just how to
eat a more wholesome diet but how to take care of themselves--how to
grow a garden, how to prepare a meal, and how to enjoy the fruit of
their own labor...not just at school, but in life.
School lunches in other countries make America's look like a joke.
