There was a time when societal mores supported good parenting.
The school, the neighborhood, the entertainment industry, and governmental authorities worked together with parents and churches to assure the honorable, yes, the godly upbringing of our nation's children.
That is not to say that
human nature was different then--these people were not all perfect or
upright in their own lives, but they did believe in the same standard of
BIBLICAL righteousness that parents endeavored to teach their children,
values that churches encouraged--though they may have lived lives that
fell short of a righteous standard, they supported that standard.
The societal mores established the authority of the BIBLICAL, CHRISTIAN standard of godliness. It was agreed by those who followed that standard in their personal lives and by those who departed from it that GOD'S WORD was the final authority regarding personal conduct and regarding business and government and all inter-personal relationships.
That accepted BIBLICAL, CHRISTIAN STANDARD has been cast aside in today's society.
Everyone clamors for his 'right' to his preferred sin. Everyone, as the BIBLE predicts would happen in a society run amok, "...does what is right in his own eyes."
As a society, we have put down GOD'S authority over us and have taken the matter of establishing a standard upon ourselves, thereby, assuring that we have no standard at all.
That is why a child cannot be administered an aspirin in school without parental permission but can be given birth control...because we have adopted the morals of alley cats and junk yard dogs.
