Our elected representatives in Washington, D.C. have become unrealistic about the real lives of working AMERICANS because they have been breathing the rarefied air of the Capitol for much too long.
These officials have become wealthy because laws that they have passed which have aggrandized themselves. They have voted benefits to themselves that defy the imagination of working AMERICANS who have spent their entire careers paying into social security so they would be able to use THEIR OWN SAVINGS during their retirement years.
These thrifty, hard-working people would have scrimped and saved to
provide for their later years independently of the government if the
government had not required them to pay into its own investment system.
When these monies are returned to the retiree, it is by the government that has used their savings for its own purposes throughout their working years.
To refer to these funds as "entitlement," as "welfare," is a gross misstatement of the facts.
Conversely, the lawmakers themselves are receiving amazing entitlements that they have voted to themselves.
Perhaps it is time that the real leaders of the country--the VOTERS--stand up and say "Enough!"
