"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." II Timothy 4:7, 8
What is the "good fight"? What battles does the LORD expect the CHRISTIAN to put his hand to? What cause, what laws, what principles are worth fighting for?
To answer
those questions, we must ask: WHAT WOULD JESUS FIGHT FOR? WHAT WOULD
HE PUT HIS HAND TO? WHAT CAUSE, WHAT LAWS, WHAT PRINCIPLES DID HE COME
TO UPHOLD?
The 'salvation package' that is CHRIST'S "unspeakable gift" to man foremost contains deliverance from sin. We who believe in JESUS, therefore, should be willing to lay down our lives if necessary to deliver the gospel of salvation to every creature.
We should also be willing to be "fools for CHRIST'S sake," and that seems to be what we become when we declare our conviction that GOD still heals, GOD still miraculously delivers from addictions and from wantonness of every sort.
May HE give us the holy boldness to proclaim HIS glory, to declare HIS truth, to spread HIS word, to lift up HIS holy name--no matter the cost--because the fight is a worthy one.
