Summit Observations

Summit Observations by Os Hillman
I watched with keen interest the summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un this week. Kim Jong Un is only 34 years old. A mere kid.
Donald Trump turned 72 on June 14th. Trump could be Kim Jon Un's grandfather.
The Singapore president did something very interesting. He gave Kim Jon Un a sightseeing tour.
What I believe was behind that tour was to give Un a vision of what a North Korea could look like if he embraced change in his nation. He genuinely seemed impressed by what he saw.
The other thing that struck me about this was how quickly things can change. A year ago we were talking war. Trump’s focus on being tough and having zero tolerance for nuclear weapons was the catalyst for the change in this leader. The sanctions made a difference along with the pressure from China.
We saw the master negotiator in action over the last year. One of the key things Trump models in negotiation is the ability to walk away.
Whenever you are willing to walk away from a deal, you have the power to allow the process to work in your favor. If it doesn’t, you probably didn’t want it anyway.
Sometimes we simply need to lay things on the altar and let God work on our behalf.
