Hidden in Plain Sight
We may wish to discover something precious in our possession, something we've had for years, for generations, without recognizing its worth, but the likelihood of our making such a find is negligible.
However, there is something in plain sight that many overlook. Church steeples rise into the sky, religious programming is abundantly available on TV, great sermons are preached from many pulpits every Sunday, but the masses pass by without seeing or hearing.
The incredible treasure of eternal life is before us but we don't notice. We are busy attending to our daily routine. We are accomplishing the mundane while the magnificent goes unrecognized. We are accruing wealth for our worldly existence that will fade away while neglecting to claim the incalculable treasure that the LORD JESUS holds out to us.
At this holy season of CHRISTMAS, may we pause in our pursuit of the temporal and refocus ourselves on eternity. As we see with spiritual eyes the "unspeakable GIFT" that is ours for the claiming, may we reach out with eager hands to grasp the CHRIST who is there, reaching out to us.
