The Reason for the Season
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Lights adorn homes and businesses. Decorations are hanging from every wall and window. As the old song says, "In the air there's a feeling of Christmas." And, it's lovely.
But in all the placing of Christmas trees and the hanging of ornaments and the buying and wrapping of gifts, please don't allow the real "reason for the season" to become lost or unimportant or secondary to the celebration.
Let JESUS, who was born as a babe and who grew to be a sinless MAN--all that HE might be the "LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD"--who would die for your sin, for my sin, for the sin of all the world; let HIM be the focus of your holiday.
And as you focus on HIM, let the Babe of Bethlehem remind you of the Savior of Calvary.
Let these words resonate in your heart:
"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe." — Hebrews 1:1-2
JESUS made all things and HE is Heir of all things--HE holds all that is HIS out to you--beginning with HIS righteousness and including HIS glory. Receive HIM as your SAVIOR and LORD at this Christmas season, or nothing else you do will be worth the time you spend to do them.
