The inclination of many believers is to do something, to try to fix everything that's wrong. Psalm 46:10 is difficult for them to obey because being still isn't their style.
Sometimes the best a person of faith can hope for is that he won't have damaged the situation too much before he finally obeys the LORD'S counsel.
Can we who say we trust in the HOLY ONE actually allow ourselves to rest in HIM? Can we allow ourselves to "be still" before HIM and trust that HE is fulfilling HIS promise to "work to the good of those who love HIM"?
There is peace in the serenity of abiding in HIS presence. In the stillness that comes with surrender to HIS MAJESTY ON HIGH, there is the ability to hear with clarity the words HE will speak to the listening soul.
BE STILL and know what Heaven and Nature proclaim:
HE IS GOD.
