Thursday’s Miracle

When we lived in Saudi Arabia, we got a rare phone call from home to tell us that my sister-in-law’s mother was on her death bed.  We were, of course, saddened by the news.  She was a young grandmother who was very active and very influential among young people.

I felt led to send a note with a prayer for her recovery.  I wrote the note, and it was mailed the next day via the APO mail which was notorious for being undependable …sometimes the mail was on the next flight, sometimes it didn’t go anywhere for days or weeks, depending on the volume of transport they were dealing with.

As it happened, the day my card arrived, my sister-in-law’s mother’s condition had deteriorated to the point that her death certificate was totally filled in—except for the precise time of her demise. 

The card was read to her in her dire condition.

The next thing they told me was that later in the day her doctor, William Shargel, one of the premier transplant surgeons of the day, who practiced at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, made his rounds to her room and found her sitting up in bed in excellent condition.

He is purported to have said, “What happened to you?”

She replied, “This card arrived from family in Saudi Arabia and it says I am healed in JESUS’ name.”

A young intern was with Dr. Stargel.  Both doctors looked at the card as their patient explained its unique origin.  The intern “coincidentally” was from Saudi Arabia !!!!!!!

His comment was, “Well, good things come out of Saudi Arabia.”

I am praying for a repeat of that amazing miracle at the point of your need.

LORD JESUS, WE KNOW THERE IS POWER IN YOUR NAME, AND WE PLEAD YOUR NAME OVER EVERY PERSON WHO IS SUFFERING. 

WE ASK YOU TO WASH THROUGH THOSE WHO ARE AFFLICTED BY DISEASE WITH HEALTH AND HEALING AND LIFE. 

WE ASK YOU TO TOUCH THOSE WHO ARE OVERWRAUGHT BY EMOTIONAL TURMOIL AND GIVE THEM PEACE THAT PASSES UNDERSTANDING.

WE ASK YOU TO BLESS THOSE WHO HAVE FINANCIAL NEEDS FROM YOUR UNFATHOMABLE RESOURCES AND SUPPLY THEIR LACK FROM YOUR OWN RICHES IN GLORY.

WE ASK YOU TO BLESS THOSE WHO ARE WEAK IN FAITH AND POUR OVER THEM OF YOUR OWN FAITH THAT MOVES MOUNTAINS.

WE ASK YOU TO LAVISH YOUR OWN UNFAILING LOVE UPON THOSE WHO ARE LONELY AND DISCOURAGED SO THEY WILL BE LIFTED UP TO HEIGHTS OF THE WONDER OF YOUR BOUNDLESS LOVE.

WE ASK YOU TO COMFORT THOSE WHO HAVE LOST LOVED ONES AND HOLD THEM CLOSE TO YOUR HEART OF LOVE AS THEY AWAIT THAT GLORIOUS DAY OF SWEET, ETERNAL REUNION.

YOU HAVE SHOWN YOURSELF STRONG BEFORE IN EXTREME SITUATIONS AND WE ASK YOU TO SHOW YOURSELF STRONG AGAIN. 

IN YOUR MIGHTY, MATCHLESS NAME WE PRAY, JESUS.  AMEN.
