Among President Donald Trump's requests for the July 4 celebration in the nation's capital is to have tanks and armored vehicles sitting on the National Mall.
According to The Washington Post, the White House is planning the event . . . The Pentagon knows of the request and is working on a plan for it, the Post reported, which could include parking the vehicles on the Mall rather than parading them down the city streets - which would risk damaging the roads because of the vehicles' weight and the tanks' tracks.
There also will be a flyover of military aircraft, including one of the jets used as Air Force One and the Blue Angels.
There is also a lengthy fireworks display of 35 minutes planned, which will merge a regularly scheduled show put on by New Jersey company and another one worth $750,000 put on by two other companies. Trump plans to speak at the event as well.
