"One day we will wake up and find an America far different than the one that we had known." Francis Schaeffer
You don't have to be extremely old to recognize the veracity of Francis Schaeffer's statement. The America that generations of patriots fought and died for is rapidly slipping into the Sea of Forgetfulness. Will the up-coming generation be willing to lay down their hopes, their dreams, their future for the sake of the freedom and the faith that motivated past generations?
Does the up-coming generation have any idea of what is at stake, let alone determining that what is at stake is worth fighting -- perhaps dying --for! Can those who have never worn the yoke of bondage begin to fathom the terrible weight of it? Can those who have never awakened to the dark morning of persecution have any fear of its gathering clouds?
Our history books do not present the hunger for freedom for which our forefathers were willing to lay down their fortunes, their sacred honor and their lives. The up-coming generation is oblivious to their determination to break free of the yoke of bondage that was upon them.
As we reflect upon the independence that we gained on that long-ago Fourth of July, may we see with fresh vision the value of the freedom that we gained because a band of rag-tag farmers and fishermen were willing to take on the greatest empire that had ever existed in order to achieve liberty.
