Beware

t's nearly summertime and that mean's heading to the river, beach or pool.

But BEWARE before you go grab those colorful pool noodles that have most likely been stored in your garage all winter.

Recently, the Salado Texas Volunteer Fire Department said a family picked up a pool noodle only to see a large rattlesnake fall out, along with several baby rattlers.

Fifteen species of venomous snakes can be found in the State of Texas, including rattlesnakes, the copperhead, the cottonmouth and the coral snake.

To prevent snakes from getting into your summer gear, the Salado Texas Volunteer Fire Department says to keep pool toys elevated or in a sealed container.  And make sure your pool noodles aren't placed anywhere around bushes or blocking any fences.

If you come across a rattlesnake, DON'T panic. Back away slowly.
