This scam is occurring in a northern city and perhaps elsewhere.
Be alert and don't fall for it if it is perpetrated against you.
The City of ----------- Police Department would like to make the public aware of a recent scam involving unknown actor(s) that have been "spoofing" a police department phone number. The caller is claiming to be an "Officer" and having Official Documents for the person being called. They then request the victim to return their phone call on a separate "secure" phone number.
All persons are advised to not return a phone call to a number supplied to them, but are encouraged to contact the -------- County 911 Center (724-775-0880) and request an officer call them back if you have any suspicions.
Also, never supply any personal information to persons over the phone unless you are sure who you are speaking with.
