A Brand New Day
What do you take most for granted?
Is it good health? Food on your table? Love among your family members? Safety within your home? Security under the umbrella of our vigilant military?
What do you take most for granted?
Is it good health? Food on your table? Love among your family members? Safety within your home? Security under the umbrella of our vigilant military?
Perhaps the one thing that didn't cross your mind is the fact that you have awakened this morning to a new day.
How often have you recited the little prayer with your children and grandchildren: "Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray Thee Lord, my soul to take. But if I live for other days, I pray Thee Lord to guide my ways."
How often have you said the words without truly contemplating their significance? Of course, we shouldn't fear sleep...it's unlikely that we'll die in the night, but if we did, where would our eternal soul find itself?
And, having awakened to a new day, are we truly allowing the Holy One to guide our way along the path He has chosen for our lives? Or do we spend our days in pursuit of our own purposes?
May we accept each new day as the gift from our Heavenly Father that it truly is and may we open it with great joy and use it to His glory.
