Almighty God

The words of the old hymn don't always ring true in the ever-darkening circumstances of a world on the brink of Armageddon. Each day it seems more and more like the evil one is in control and that the candle of the children of the light is being snuffed out by his vitriolic onslaught.

But, amid all the seeming evidence to the contrary, our God reigns and in spite of every indicator that His purposes are being thwarted, be mindful of the reality that nothing can defeat Him, for He is "more than a conqueror," Romans 8:37, and because of Jesus' finished work on the cross, so are His people.

While it is true that "in the world you shall have tribulation," be of good cheer, for the Lord followed that truth with HIS astounding proclamation, "I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!" John 16:33.

Are you wrestling with an insurmountable problem? Be of good cheer!
Are you weighted with a heavy burden of sin? Be of good cheer!
Does disease wrack your body? Be of good cheer!
Do world circumstances distress you? Be of good cheer!
Does evil seem to have the upper hand? Be of good cheer!

"The same power that raised JESUS from the dead dwells in you," Romans 8:11. And that power cannot fail!
