"We
wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers, against
principalities, against the enemies of God in high places." Ephesians
6:12
There is an old saying that "the more things change, the more they stay the same." In the light of the onslaught of radical islam against Christians and Jews the reality of those words becomes quite impacting.
The Holy Word, the BIBLE, tells us that "God is love; they who dwell in God, dwell in love." I John 4:16 The direct opposite of the manifestation of that love in the hearts and actions of men is evidenced by the abject hatred that we see in those who have pit themselves against the Holy One.
As Jesus said, "If they first hated Me, they will hate you." John 15:18, 19 When men, whether they be Nazis or ISIS, vent the intensity of hatred that they express against God's finest creation, against mankind, they are expressing the hatred of the evil one for all that the Lord intends man to be--to "love one another as I have loved you." John 13:34
How the heart of our LORD must sorrow at the demonic hatred that men have allowed to engulf their hearts and minds and spirits. How the heart of our LORD must anguish when HE sees the suffering that HIS people must endure at the hand of evil. And how HE must weep every time one of the perpetrators of evil dies in the performance of an atrocity, dies believing he will enter a paradise lush with pleasure of every sort, only to find himself eternally in hell.
The Bible admonishes that man, "resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7
May believers in Christ resist evil on every hand, may believers in Christ resist the the temptation to hate the haters. Instead may we unleash the HOLY SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD THROUGH OUR PRAYERS; MAY WE THEN SEE EVEN THE MOST FERVENT ENEMIES OF CHRIST COME TO SALVATION.
Lord, let it be.
