Where Was God?

Where was God?

After one of the terrible school shootings that have occurred in this country, a prominent clergy was asked that question. The response brought everyone back to the reality of what we've done to our society in recent decades.

The answer, "We've kicked God out of our schools, we've kicked God out of our government, we've kicked God out of our lives; and He's too much of a Gentleman to impose Himself where we don't want Him to be," is a sobering one indeed.

Our society has coarsened because we have removed the Lord from it. Many of our teachers are not grounded in faith and those who are believers in Christ are legally prohibited from sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus with the children in their charge. Should we be surprised when our young comport themselves with pagan animus rather than with Christian love?

Nine eminent justices have legislated away much of the Christian foundation upon which our founding fathers established this nation. Should we be surprised when our leaders evidence socialistic views and empathize more with foreign gods than with the God of our fathers?

A significant portion of our nation purports itself to be "Christian," but neglects to read the Bible on a regular basis or to "study to show yourself approved to God, a workman rightly dividing the Word of Truth." Nor do those professors of faith in our glorious Savior deem it necessary to darken the door of His Church with any degree of regularity.

Yet we lament the removal of His hand of guidance and protection that elevated our land to the pinnacle of honor, the point of preeminence among the nations of the world. Can we who believe that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord of our lives, we who are called by His name, be on our faces before Him, praying for our own spiritual revival and for the revival of our nation that would follow?
Can we pray II Chronicles 7:14 with fervency? Let us do so before it's too late!

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land."

Then when someone asks, "Where is God," we may say with assurance, "HE LIVES IN ME! HE ABIDES IN THIS NATION!"
