Sometimes I Wonder

Samuel Langhorne Clemens had a way with words and because he was an astute observer of his surroundings he could elevate the mundane to the sublime and he could reduce the sublime to the ridiculous.

As we traverse the road of life, we must endeavor to assume Clemens' (better known as Mark Twain) outlook.

When we see the struggles of the unfortunate who are unable to rise above the constrictions that uncaring society has imposed upon them, we can extend a helping hand to lift them to a place of achievement and self-worth.

By recognizing the pompous politician as the oaf he truly is, we will not be intimidated by him but will be fully aware that we are his master and we can reduce him to nothingness with our votes at the ballot box.

We will be able to say with Roosevelt, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself," and we will be able to laugh with Clemons in the face of imposing odds.
