Tomorrow Is Veterans' Day!

War

War is a heart wrenching outcome of man's unwillingness to follow the precepts set down by Almighty God to govern the affairs of mankind.

A century ago, the world was enmeshed in a great conflagration. It was "the war to end all wars" but it resulted instead in another great conflict that exceeded its magnitude and its scope.

At stake were not only the lives of the men on the front lines of battle but also the lives of those who were marked for annihilation by a government gone mad. At stake was the very concept of freedom.
The irony, that Jewish people were the primary target of this madness, points to the true identity of the foe of God's perfect order. The enemy of God's purposes, satan, has, through history, made God's 'chosen people' the victim of men's disdain.

Why is the thread of hatred for these people who have contributed so much to the betterment of mankind been woven so tightly into man's history? Can it be that one small group of humanity has antagonized the world because the world is beholding to them for everything they've done to make human life better?

For so many technological breakthroughs?
For so many contributions to medical science?
For so much of the commerce and trade that enrich so many?

Or is it because they ARE God's chosen people that His ancient foe strives so relentlessly to destroy them? Is it because of their myriad gifts to man--so hated by the evil one--that the devil would crush them and scatter them like dust?

Yet through the centuries of his onslaught against them, the Jewish people have survived and thrived and enabled all men of diverse backgrounds to rise with them. And part of God's floodgate to hold back the raging tide of evil that has arisen against them was the brave fighting men of WW II.

It was these, of whom Churchill said, "Never have so many owed so much to so few," and while that may be said of those who bravely fought, it can also be said of those who bravely suffered.

It can be said also of the Jewish people who have risen yet again and who have, against all odds, carved a thriving land out of a desert wilderness; who have met the onslaught of God's ancient foe in every field of battle--and have won.
