The Greatest Gift

The Greatest Gift

Yes, it is true, man requires the time, the attention, the concern that evidence the love that is the soil in which frail life may flourish. May parents lavish these precious commodities upon their children and may the children of the elderly return these priceless benefits to their aging parents. May our society function in the blest atmosphere these attributes bring to it.

Yet, there is one more thing that every believer owes to those around him. That one thing transcends the advantages bestowed by the precious temporal gifts enumerated here.

That one thing is the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Indeed, if all a man has is the best life has to offer, his advantage ceases when he draws his final breath. But if a man knows Jesus as His Savior and Lord, he will accrue the benefit of that relationship through time and throughout eternity.
So, we who call Him our Lord must declare Him to the lost and dying world around us. We must, as the Word adjures, "Shout it from the housetops!" Matthew 10:27

May we proclaim Jesus and the gift of salvation He holds out to all mankind to everyone whose life touches ours, for the sharing of that precious truth is indeed immeasurably more valuable than any mere earthly gift can ever be.
