Gimmicks

Gimmicks

There's always a gimmick because, as a great comedian of the past observed, "There's a sucker born every minute."

One of those things for which people are most inclined to fall are get-rich-quick schemes...you know, those ways of getting wealth that have nothing to do with earning it. The lottery, the scheme that now pervades the country, was once illegal. Those who employed the principle under which the various state lotteries function were imprisoned for gambling.

The word of God makes God's position in the matter clear--HE says, "They who will not work will not eat." II Thessalonians 3:10

That is not to say our generous Lord is opposed to helping those in need; rather that collecting a handout should not be a perpetual means of satisfying ones needs.

How can anyone assure that his needs can be met in the day of a troubled economy? God says something to address that ...

"Bring the tithes into the storehouse (church) and prove Me now says the Lord, if I will not open the windows of Heaven and pour you out a blessing that you cannot contain." Malachi 3:10

The promise of God is that if a man honors God by paying his tithe (ten percent of all he earns) to further His purposes, God will assure that the needs of that man will be supplied.

It's a promise worth claiming.
