Someone I love is having a bitter-sweet day today because today is her Mother's birthday. She would be 92 years old, and if she were here, her daughter would have arranged a lovely celebration of the day.
As an 'only child,' she and her Mother had the loveliest of relationships. The bond between them was strong and absolutely secure. She knew she was more precious than life to her mother and her mother loved her enough to ground her in the things of not only time but of eternity.
The faith she has today was planted in her heart by her Mother, so
everything she is and everything she does and everything she believes
has its source in the woman who gave her life.
I want her to know that I am praying extra prayers for her today--that the CHRIST she loves and serves will get her in, get her out and get her thru this bitter-sweet day; that at the end of the day, she will be rejoicing that her Mother is in Heaven, loving her more than she ever has and covering her with more powerful prayers than she has ever prayed.
And to people who are having bitter-sweet days, for whatever reason, no matter who has left for Heaven too soon, no matter who has disappointed you in a relationship, no matter who has betrayed your trust, no matter how bitterly you have disappointed yourself, no matter what disease has attacked your body, no matter what financial set-back you have incurred, NO MATTER WHAT HAS GONE WRONG, the CHRIST to whom you pray will "get you in, get you out, get you thru. Never underestimate the power of prayer."
The CHRIST to whom you pray has told you in HIS WORD, "THE SAME POWER THAT RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD DWELLS IN YOU." Romans 8:11
USE THAT POWER!
TRUST THE ONE WHO PROMISED!
