Sunday. The LORD'S DAY.
Many will flock to houses of worship today. Many will bow their heads in prayer and bow their hearts in worship to You.
We pray for our churches, JESUS. We pray for the people who call themselves Christians and ask that true faith will fill their hearts and that Your unadulterated Word will fill their ears today, spoken by men whose calling is to nurture Your people in the admonition of the Holy One.
We ask You to stand in our
pulpits with the ministers of the gospel; endue them with the resolute
purpose to preach Your truth and nothing else. We ask You to stand with
them so they may handle the Word of Truth with clean hands and pure
hearts.
We ask You to stand with them in their interactions with other people so even in the course of ordinary days, the living epistle of their lives may shine through their words and actions. We ask You to guard them from the snares of the enemy, for he desires nothing more than for them to stumble; he knows that when these good men falter, many topple from faith.
We ask You to stand with our persecuted brothers. You know the vitriolic hatred they endure simply because You have revealed Your truth to them. We ask that whether or not they have the freedom to enter houses of worship today, You will abide with them and make their hearts Temples where Your Holy Spirit resides in power--no matter what ordeals they may face.
We glorify You today, JESUS, whether we are believers in houses dedicated to worshiping You or whether we are believers in cells dedicated to undermining the faith of those who lift up Your name.
We pray for our churches, for they are YOUR CHURCH, and YOUR CHURCH is YOUR BRIDE.
Make us white and clean and pure before YOU.
