On Its Face
To only visual observation, last night's presidential debate was not a debate, it was a barroom brawl.
Donald Trump's bombastic performance had his most stalwart supporters cringing. Those who hate him are reveling in his less- than-presidential performance.
Joe Biden, on the other hand was free of his usual stumbling ineptitude. Biden was composed and appeared far more in command of the debate.
There is an explanation for last night's fiasco that goes beyond the men and how they comported themselves. It will make sense to Trump's supporters and it will be the height of hilarity to those in Biden's corner.
Donald Trump has been maligned by the media since he announced his candidacy in the first go round. He has been denigrated by the democrats as well as by members of his own party.
From the moment he stepped into the political arena, he has been falsely accused of every manner of evil and ineptitude. He has been thwarted at every turn from his inauguration.
When his policies were doing well and America was overcoming the mismanagement of the former administration, when he was renegotiating trade deals to make them fair to America's workers, when he was robustly demanding equity from trading partners who had enjoyed years of advantage over our own people, the coronavirus --which some say was deliberately released by the Chines for the very purpose of halting Trump's progress --undid three years' of economic resurgence of the American economy.
When President Trump closed the borders to protect our citizens from the coronavirus, he was called a racist by the democrats. Nancy Pelosi went so far as to walk through Chinatown in San Francisco to evidence her support of the Chinese over Trump. Now, those same democrats are accusing the president of not doing enough, soon enough, to preserve American lives.
There are countless more evidences of the lies and innuendos that the democrats have hurled at Trump since he began his tenure as president and those who keep abreast of the news know what they are.
Joe Biden, perhaps with the benefit of performance enhancers, comported himself far above his recent stumbles and blunders. Biden smoothly reiterated the distortions and untruths that suggest he has been a force for the citizens of this nation through the 47 years of his public life.
Biden was not challenged on the reality that he and his family, including his brothers and his son Hunter, have aggrandized themselves through questionable deals with foreign governments, including Hunter Biden's receipt of over three million dollars from the wife of the mayor of Moscow and his high=paying "jobs" with foreign companies.
Nor was it mentioned that Hunter Biden's relationship with the Chinese has resulted in quite a windfall for young Biden. The question of the probability that his association with an enemy government was enriched because his father was then the vice president were not questions posed to Joe Biden.
The media, ever against Trump and always masking Biden's traitorous self and family enrichment was again in play.
Donald Trump, in his street-fighter fashion, attempted to defend himself against the onslaught against him, including Chris Wallace, who for all his attempt at civility and neutrality, is indeed, a member of the biased media.
So, President Trump went home, convinced that he had brought to light the truth about the negative bias of the media.
Joe Biden went home, confident that his smooth lies had done what they have always done -- shown him to be a stellar politician who is above reproach.
And Chris Wallace went home after attempting to be the bouncer at a barroom brawl, for several stiff drinks.
