God’s intention for man has always been that he should be a reflection of Himself. From Genesis 1:26 where the Triune Majesty says to Himself, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness…” it has been His intention that the loftiest of His created beings would be like Him—that man would be the possessor of every godly character trait.
Man has fallen far short of God’s lofty aspiration so He has devised an eternal plan to restore him to his lost estate (Revelation 13:8). God who knows all things was not taken unaware when Adam and Eve succumbed to the wiles of the tempter. He knew from the foundation of the earth that man would require a Savior, so a Redeemer has been eternally provided.
In Romans 8:29, 30, Paul states clearly, “God knew them before He made the world and He decided that they would be like His Son so Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers. God planned for them to be like His Son, and those He foreordained, He also called; and those He called, He redeemed; and those He redeemed, He also glorified.”
Our Lord, the Majesty on High, does nothing by halves.
He did not take counsel with Himself before the world began in order to create a being who would fall from grace and be eternally unfit for heaven. No! His heart of love required Him to make man, knowing he could not resist the tempter! But He also made him with the power to know and love and receive the Savior. The greatest joy of the heart of God is when a man lays his sin at the foot of the cross.
I am weighing the possibility of reducing the posts to this blog from daily to weekly or monthly because of minimal interest.
