In the Book of Job in the Bible, God refers to "the treasure of the snow." Job 38:22
Perhaps that's a bit of irony on His part since the entirety of the book is about how Job lost everything and endured much suffering while remaining faithful to the Lord.
Indeed, snow can cause suffering to many, especially if a significant amount of the treasure is poured out at once. Today, the East Coast of the United States is bracing for a significant snowfall. Some parts of the affected area are to receive 24 or more inches.
This may result in power outages, heart attacks as people shovel,
injuries from falls on snow and ice, loss of stored foods in freezers,
and countless other possible scenarios that will not reflect the
delightful scene pictured below.
May we here offer up a prayer to Almighty God that this storm, this horrible blizzard, will be turned from its projected trajectory and deposit its treasure harmlessly at sea.
LORD JESUS, we come before YOU, beseeching YOUR mercy in the behalf of the people who are in the path of this horrific winter storm...we ask YOU to be their place of refuge from this icy, winter blast...we ask YOU to protect them from whatever befalls them...but we know that it is within YOUR power to redirect this storm and to spare YOUR people from its devastating onslaught...whichever way this storm goes, DEAR LORD, we ask YOU to put a hedge of safety around YOUR people and to keep them free from the magnitude of harm and loss that this weather event has the potential to unleash...it is in YOUR mighty, matchless, unfailing NAME that we pray, JESUS...Amen.
Let us pray this prayer together and let us believe to "see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living." Psalm 27:13
