It is July First...July is the seventh month of the year, so we are now into the second half of 2016.
The BIBLE says that "a thousand years is like a day and a day is like a thousand years to GOD." Time is irrelevant to HIM.
Time is, however, very relevant to mortals. We measure everything we do in time.
The remainder of this year holds a very significant cycle before us. We will see presidential candidates parading their ideas before us. Their representatives will call us on the telephone to enlist our support. TV ads will bombard us with reasons why our vote for (insert candidate's name) is crucial to our country.
In elections prior to that of Barack Obama, our choices were a bit hazy...for the most part, candidates represented patriotic AMERICANS whose views and policies varied somewhat but whose ultimate goal was promoting our nation--its people and its interests.
With Mr. Obama, that changed. He told us he would "fundamentally transform AMERICA," and we have seen him do that. Our president announced that we are no longer a CHRISTIAN country (although 87 percent of us profess faith in CHRIST).
His foreign policy has poured the wealth of this nation into nations that have declared their intent to destroy us.
The hierarchy of his government is filled with Muslims at a time when Muslims have declared their hatred for everything our nation stands for.
During his administration, believers in CHRIST have begun to feel an intensifying of policies that are against what we hold to be the will and the immutable law of GOD.
The list could go on but most of us don't need a reminder of how many times we have been disappointed that our president, for whom we pray (according to the scriptural admonition) seems ever at odds against the faith he professes.
As we approach the Fourth of July, the holiday that celebrates the birth of the nation we love, the nation that has given more opportunity for a better life to more people than all other nations of the world combined, may we take time to reflect fully upon the election cycle before us.
As we think of this country that has seen men rise from the obscurity of a backwoods, uneducated country boy to the office of President of the United States as did Lincoln; as we ponder the nation that allowed the son of a Kenyan communist to be voted into that same high office as was Obama, may we be mindful that there are forces at work that would rob future young men and women of that opportunity.
As we weigh our two presumptive candidates, let us assess them carefully:
One has hungered to hold the reigns of power and wealth from her youth and she will not rest until she heaps upon herself that ultimate and crowning achievement.
One has known power and wealth and needs nothing; his patriotism compels him to desire to make AMERICA and its people great again.
We have two flawed people from whom to chose (indeed, all people are flawed). MAY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ENABLE US TO SEE CLEARLY THE ONE FOR WHOM WE SHOULD CAST OUR VOTE IN NOVEMBER, FOR ONLY HE CAN SEE THE HEARTS AND INTENTS OF MORTALS.
LORD, HELP EACH OF US TO SEEK YOU AND YOUR WILL AS WE EVALUATE THE CANDIDATES AND DETERMINE WHICH ONE WILL RECEIVE OUR VOTE.
HELP US TO VOTE FOR THE ONE WHO WILL PROMOTE CHRISTIANITY, THE RELIGION ON WHICH THIS NATION HAS STOOD SINCE ITS INCEPTION.
HELP US TO VOTE FOR THE ONE WHO WILL PUT THE INTERESTS OF OUR PEOPLE ABOVE THE INTERESTS OF THE ENEMIES WHO HAVE COMMITTED THEMSELVES TO OUR DESTRUCTION.
In YOUR mighty name we pray, JESUS. Amen.
As we celebrate this Fourth of July, may we ponder the two roads before us and may we choose the one that leads to the restoration of the faith and industry--to the SAVIOR--that once made AMERICA great!
