LABOR DAY
Today, the first Monday in September, is set aside as a day to honor people who work...a day to acknowledge the unsung heroes whose diligence to the small tasks they perform goes on without much recognition from people who take their efforts for granted.
Most of us are in that category. We are the faithful performers of work-a-day routines that remain unnoticed unless they suddenly stop.
We are the policemen whose diligence to our duty keeps our city streets and our rural neighborhoods safe.
We are the truck drivers whose presence on the highways keeps the products we need in our stores.
We are the postal workers who keep our commerce flowing.
We are the teachers who guide our children on the path of learning.
We are the architects who design our buildings.
We are the engineers who build our infrastructure.
We are the ministers who impart the truth that makes men free.
To these, and to so many who daily touch our lives with the work they perform, we raise our collective word of thanks for jobs well done.
