Ten Fundamentals

10 Fundamentals That Christians Should Be Doing Every Day

1. Treat others as you would have them treat you
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you”- Matthew 7:12
The golden rule is the hallmark of Christianity. It is not only a rule, it is a commandment! This is the Christian way of life.

2. Don’t worry
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”– Matthew 6:27
God urges us to throw our worries onto him. He will take care of them as long as we continue in his righteous path.

3. Read the Bible
Here is a fun fact: If you put in about 10-20 minutes a day to read the Bible, you’ll be able to finish the four Gospels within a month. The four Gospels Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke tell of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. What a powerful tool in the hands of a believer the LIVING WORD WITHIN THEM WILL BE!

4. Help people
In Matthew 25:34-40 it says, ”By helping others, we help ourselves. Jesus told us to give food to the hungry, to clothe the ones that lack it, and shelter the ones who don’t have a place of refuge.

5. Be Thankful
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
If the power that raised JESUS from the dead indeed dwells in us (Romans 8:11) then prayer is too glorious a force to overlook in our lives. If the LORD truly “inhabits the praise of HIS people,” should we not approach HIM with grateful hearts!

6. Pray
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For YOURS is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13

7. Learn the Word of God
The four Gospels laid out perfect examples of how believers in JESUS should carry out their Christian lives and to find favor with God. It is important for modern day Christians to apply those biblical principles, they do this by learning the Word of God.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Jesus in Matthew 7:24,

8. Forgive your enemies
“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Jesus in Matthew 6:14-15
God does not have a double standard. What HE extends to those who lay their sins at the feet of the SAVIOR, HE expects them to extend to those who ask forgiveness of them.

9. Be careful with what you say
“But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37

Our words convey who we are in the depth of our heart. If JESUS truly reigns over our lives, if HE indeed dwells in our hearts, HIS presence within us should be reflected in everything we say and everything we do.

10. Tell others about Jesus
Jesus’ main plan of action was to bring the good news to people of all nations.
Remember that on judgment day, Jesus will take into account how much you spread His message. By telling others about Christ, you are literally saving lives for eternity.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
