"Again Jesus said, 'Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you'" John 20:21-22
Have you ever entrusted someone to help you, only to have them fail miserably? What was your response? Sometimes even believers in Christ evidence their disapproval to others in ways the Lord Himself would not have used.
Bill ran a manufacturing company. His executive management team sought to take over the company in a hostile corporate take over. It was unsuccessful. Bill would now have to manage the same team that betrayed him.
When Jesus was crucified many of the disciples fled. Peter denied Jesus three times. When Jesus had come back to life, we say how He handled the reunion among those who had totally abandoned Him and failed in the mission to which they were called.
"Jesus said, 'Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you'" (John 20:21-22).
What an incredible greeting after all they had experienced!
No shame.
No harsh words.
Just a reaffirmation of the mission and His commitment to them.
No harsh words.
Just a reaffirmation of the mission and His commitment to them.
Jesus used grace and total acceptance as motivation for His followers to carry on the mission they had initially failed.
He didn't need to remind them of their failure. They already felt badly enough.
It was time to recast the vision with new life.
When there is failure, it is more important to revitalize those who have disappointed, not focus on their failures of the past.
Do you need to rally those in your sphere of influence around the Lord's mission that has stalled in their lives?
Begin by affirming those under your leadership. Encourage them to be at peace within themselves by leaning fully on Jesus, and then send them forth fortified by His "peace that passes understanding"!
