Hunger

The table has been cleared.
The dishes have been washed.
The bellies are more stuffed than usual.
You've vowed you won't eat again for a week.
The grand Thanksgiving feast has been consumed and you vow you won't put another morsel into your mouth for at least a week...
...But hunger will return and you will be foraging through the left-over turkey and stuffing and fixings for something to munch.
Spiritual hunger behaves much in the same way. We devour new ideas and investigate new theological propositions regarding how to assure ourselves eternal life.
When we have consumed a new idea we feel satisfied for a time. We relax in our confident assumption that we have found the diet that heaven demands of us.
But the gnawing hunger returns. Where we had felt full, we again find ourselves empty. We must resume our search for something satisfying from which to partake.
And then we hear for the first time the words spoken by JESUS, "I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE."
JESUS is the BREAD OF LIFE. Without HIM, we starve for life-giving, eternal truth.
Until we, "Enter His Gates With THANKSGIVING," we are forever without the life-sustaining, eternity-transforming message that lifts us from the squalor of our sin into the abundance of HIS glorious provision.
Grab a plate, for you've found that for which you have searched.
Partake without measure of HIS infinite salvation meal.
