Holiness in An Unholy World

Holiness in an Unholy World by Dr. D. James Kennedy                                                                        “… be holy, for I am the Lord your God.”                            Leviticus 20:7

Have you ever noticed how many people claim to “believe in God,” but on closer inspection, the “god” they believe in is merely one made up in the human mind? And rarely, it seems, does that god have any standards of holiness. I recall once sharing the Gospel with a woman, and when I began talking about God’s judgment, she stopped me and said, “Oh, no. My God would never do a thing like that.”

I said, “Madam, you are absolutely correct. Your god would never bring anyone into judgment. The fact of the matter is, your god would never do anything at all. He doesn’t exist anywhere other than in the fantasies of your own mind. However, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the Scriptures, has declared explicitly what He will do; He will judge every evil thought and wicked way.”

I’m afraid that many today are guilty of the same idolatry, diminishing or eliminating God’s holiness, and that leads to an “anything goes” attitude.

As people have created their own images of God, our society has endured a moral decline. Pollster George M. Gallup, Jr. says the United States faces “a moral and ethical crisis of the first dimension” and needs to find spiritual answers to deal with the situation. Our educators and courts have forgotten George Washington’s warning in his farewell address— that we should not be so naive as to suppose that we can maintain morality in the absence of religion. All history and experience forbid us to indulge in such a vain supposition, he said. But we have been just that naive, and now having sown the wind, we reap the whirlwind. Today we indeed face a moral crisis of the first dimension.

Yes, we live in a largely immoral world. But like the beautiful lily blossoming on a dung heap, so God calls us to purity in the midst of an impure world. The Bible tells us that God wants us to be holy, even as the Lord our God is holy.

Quote from President Ronald Reagan

“A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.”

President Ronald Reagan

Free Abortions

California Bill Would Make Abortions Free
As Roe v. Wade appears to be on shaky ground, states are rushing to create legislation that either upholds life or promotes killing it. California has doubled down with not only legislation to provide free abortions but also to help pay expenses of women to travel to California for abortions.
Lawmakers are staying busy to make sure abortion on demand is the law of state as the United States Supreme Court revisits Roe v. Wade, including in California where women will be able to abort their unborn child for free.

“With this legislation, we’ll help ensure equitable, affordable access to abortion services so that out-of-pocket costs don’t stand in the way of receiving care,” California  Governor Gavin Newsom said in a statement.

Senate Bill 245, named the Abortion Accessibility Act, prohibits insurance companies from charging a deductible, co-pay, or deductible for the procedure.

"Eliminating out-of-pocket costs for abortion for people with private insurance is a major step in California’s commitment to being a Reproductive Freedom state — making abortion services more accessible and affordable for all people in California,” Jodi Hicks, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, said in a statement about the law, which goes into effect in 2023.

Another Democrat California lawmaker, Sen. Nancy Skinner, proposed a bill last week that would create a fund to help women pay the expenses of traveling to California to abort their child.

- Father, it grieves us to see human life so devalued by these elected lawmakers. As your word says in Proverbs 24:11, "Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter."

Use us, Lord to deliver the unborn from death.

Nominee Refuses to Define "Woman"

 Nominee Refuses to Define "Woman"

Father, we pray that You would raise up leaders in our country who recognize and respect biology. You made us unchangeably male and female, God, and we pray that our country would come to realize that.

At such a crucial time in our country when anti-biblical views of gender are on the rise, the last thing we need is a Supreme Court judge who will deny the most basic principles of biology.

From Fox News. President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson refused to define the word “woman” on the second day of her confirmation hearings before the U.S. Senate’s Judiciary Committee.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., pressed Jackson on transgender issues Tuesday night….

“Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman?’” the senator asked.

“Can I provide a definition? No,” Jackson responded. “I can’t.”

“You can’t?” Blackburn asked.

“Not in this context, I’m not a biologist,” the judge replied.

“Do you believe the meaning of the word woman is so unclear and controversial that you can’t give me a definition?” Blackburn pressed.

“Senator, in my work as a judge, what I do is I address disputes. If there’s a dispute about a definition, people make arguments, and I look at the law, and I decide,” Jackson said.

Blackburn argued that “the fact that you can’t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about….”

Dictionary.com defines “woman” as “an adult female person,” and classifies the word as an “Elementary level” word to define….

Abigail Shrier, author of the book “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,” noted that Jackson is ” celebrated for being a pathbreaking woman…but she can’t (won’t) tell you what a woman is. Not a good sign for someone who wishes to be in a position to determine the rights American women will get to keep.”

How are you praying about this confirmation?
