Disgraceful White House Correspondents' Dinner

Disgraceful White House Correspondents' Dinner by Bill Wilson

The White House Correspondent's Dinner is usually where the media gets together once a year and roasts the President. In years past, maybe because the "president" has been one of their own (translated: Leftist), the jokes have been tempered with a bit of respect for the office. But then again, the immediate ex-"president" told the attendees in 2016 that the media and his Administration were partners and worked together with the same goals to bring truth to America and to preserve democracy. The current president has refused to even attend the gala, saying that he would rather not be stuck in a room with a "bunch of fake news liberals who hate me." He is right. The dinner was full of left-wing, vulgar disrespect.

Headlining the evening was comedian Michelle Wolf, who left no doubt of the evening's agenda. She attacked Trump and his White House relentlessly with vulgar, inappropriate, disrespectful "jokes" that most Americans would not dare repeat at the dinner table. Sexual innuendo was checked at the door as Wolf openly described sexual body parts, used the slang name of the female sex organ to describe the President; attributed perverted sex acts to members of the Administration, and said Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was an "Uncle Tom" to women-with Sanders sitting at the same table from which Wolf was speaking. She called Sanders and Kellyanne Conway liars and the President a racist.

While not a "White House Correspondent," I often covered the White House when Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were in office. I also covered the 1980 Presidential campaign between Carter and Reagan. As a reporter, I believed in conducting myself above board, respectfully, yet firmly, showing respect for the Office of the President, while at the same time, a toughness to hold accountability to the truth. One can be friendly, but not friends. Also, as a correspondent or reporter, one must seek to report the news without bias, without a political agenda. If it is your opinion, that must be stated up front. It seems all those rules that good journalists once lived by are gone with this generation.

Allowing an agenda-driven leftist disguised as a comedian to address the premier gathering of America's White House reporters with such blatant disrespect and vulgarity speaks volumes about the character and agenda of those bringing so-called news to the world. The New York Times motto is "All the news that's fit to print." When those reporting the news are unfit, the news is also suspect. A free press should not have a political agenda. Today's press is not free because of its agenda. As the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 1:22, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." Michelle Wolf's vile, inappropriate monologue, as embraced by the White House correspondents, is evidence of their reprobate minds-a disgrace to free speech and to the title "Correspondent."

“There is nothing small about our God, and when we understand God, we will find out that there ought not to be anything small about us. We must have an enlargement of our conception of God, then we will know that we have come to a place where all things are possible, for our God is an omnipotent God for impossible positions.”

The Ultimate Performance Review

The Ultimate Performance Review
From: Today God Is First by Os Hillman

"If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward,"    I Corinthians 3:14.

Have you ever had a job performance review? If you are in the workplace, you will likely have had one. Employers want to see if you have done what was desired of you and whether you have done it in the prescribed way that has produced results. If you do well, you will be affirmed and may even get a pay raise.

If you fail to live up to expectations, you could even get fired.

The Bible has its own performance review. It is called the Judgment Seat, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad," II Corinthians 5:10.

The generation that came out of Egypt with Moses is going to have a bad day at the Judgment Seat because we already know God's view on the matter. "That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways,'" Hebrews 3:10.

The Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is death, Proverbs 14:12. There is a way that God wants you and me to operate on the earth. He has given us His Word - our instruction manual - in order to know His ways of doing things.

How well do you know the instruction manual? Have you read only a few parts here and there? Are you well versed on the intricacies of His ways so that you will be able to have a glorious "performance review" when the time comes?

Take time every day to get your instructions for His ways of living your life. Your reward will be great.

Adolf Hitler Commits Suicide

On this day in 1945, holed up in a bunker under his headquarters in Berlin, Adolf Hitler commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. Soon after, Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allied forces, ending Hitler’s dreams of a “1,000-year” Reich.

Since at least 1943, it was becoming increasingly clear that Germany would fold under the pressure of the Allied forces. In February of that year, the German 6th Army, lured deep into the Soviet Union, was annihilated at the Battle of Stalingrad, and German hopes for a sustained offensive on both fronts evaporated.

Then, in June 1944, the Western Allied armies landed at Normandy, France, and began systematically to push the Germans back toward Berlin. By July 1944, several German military commanders acknowledged their imminent defeat and plotted to remove Hitler from power so as to negotiate a more favorable peace. Their attempts to assassinate Hitler failed, however, and in his reprisals, Hitler executed over 4,000 fellow countrymen.

In January 1945, facing a siege of Berlin by the Soviets, Hitler withdrew to his bunker to live out his final days. Located 55 feet under the chancellery, the shelter contained 18 rooms and was fully self-sufficient, with its own water and electrical supply. Though he was growing increasingly mad, Hitler continued to give orders and meet with such close subordinates as Hermann Goering, Heinrich Himmler and Josef Goebbels. He also married his long-time mistress Eva Braun just two days before his suicide.

In his last will and testament, Hitler appointed Admiral Karl Donitz as head of state and Goebbels as chancellor. He then retired to his private quarters with Braun, where he and Braun poisoned themselves and their dogs, before Hitler then also shot himself with his service pistol.

Hitler and Braun’s bodies were hastily cremated in the chancellery garden, as Soviet forces closed in on the building. When the Soviets reached the chancellery, they removed Hitler’s ashes, continually changing their location so as to prevent Hitler devotees from creating a memorial at his final resting place. Only eight days later, on May 8, 1945, the German forces issued an unconditional surrender, leaving Germany to be carved up by the four Allied powers.

The BIBLE “Let this mind be in you as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself of no  reputation, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!” Philippians 2: 5-8

Recognizing God's Supernatural Power Within You

Recognizing God's Supernatural Power Within You by Becky Dvorak

Others around you will recognize when you walk in the supernatural power of God, and they will seek you out.

I was listening to one of the local pastors at an outdoor evangelistic campaign, and a lady in a nearby house saw me sitting on the bench and sent for me to come and pray for her.

When I arrived at her house, she shared with me that she was in great pain and had been unable to urinate all day. She wanted me to pray for her. I placed my hands upon her and rebuked all infection, swelling and kidney stones, and the woman went flying to relieve her bladder.

This is a natural walk in the way of the supernatural. The Spirit of God waits to release His power through us, to deliver those who are bound to Satan, to release divine healing to those who are suffering from the devil's wicked works, to give a prophetic word to those who are seeking direction and needing encouragement and to help those who are spiritually lost find their way to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Since God is fully aware of the times we now live in and the condition of the hardened hearts of the people toward the Lord and His ways, He has supernaturally equipped us with a power that is greater than any magic this world has ever known. It is the supernatural power of faith. This faith will outshine anything we face.

World War II Monument Opens in Washington, D.C.
On April 29, 2004, the National World War II Memorial opens in Washington, D.C., to thousands of visitors, providing overdue recognition for the 16 million U.S. men and women who served in the war. The memorial is located on 7.4 acres on the former site of the Rainbow Pool at the National Mall between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The Capitol dome is seen to the east, and Arlington Cemetery is just across the Potomac River to the west.
The granite and bronze monument features fountains between arches symbolizing hostilities in Europe and the Far East. The arches are flanked by semicircles of pillars, one each for the states, territories and the District of Columbia. Beyond the pool is a curved wall of 4,000 gold stars, one for every 100 Americans killed in the war.
An Announcement Stone proclaims that the memorial honors those “Americans who took up the struggle during the Second World War and made the sacrifices to perpetuate the gift our forefathers entrusted to us: A nation conceived in liberty and justice.”
Though the federal government donated $16 million to the memorial fund, it took more than $164 million in private donations to get it built. Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole, who was severely wounded in the war, and actor Tom Hanks were among its most vocal supporters.
Only a fraction of the 16 million Americans who served in the war would ever see it. Four million World War II veterans were living at the time, with more than 1,100 dying every day, according to government records.
The memorial was inspired by Roger Durbin of Berkey, Ohio, who served under Gen. George S. Patton. At a fish fry near Toledo in February 1987, he asked U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur why there was no memorial on the Mall to honor World War II veterans.
Kaptur, a Democrat from Ohio, soon introduced legislation to build one, starting a process that would stumble along through 17 years of legislative, legal and artistic entanglements. Durbin died of pancreatic cancer in 2000.
The monument was formally dedicated May 29, 2004, by U.S. President George W. Bush. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it received some 4.4 million visitors in 2005.

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

For I, the Lord your God,
    will hold your right hand,
saying to you, “Do not fear;
    I will help you.”

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thoughts on Matthew 25:15

Thoughts on Matthew 25:15 by Martin G. Collins
"And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey."
The talent was not a coin but a weight, and so its value obviously depended on whether the coinage involved was copper, silver, or gold. The most common metal was silver. The original Greek word for "talent" is talantos, which refers to quantity. As Jesus uses it, a talent is not something we possess, but which He possesses and loans to His servants. In the parable, all talents belonged to the lord, who entrusted them to his servants for use in trade.
Spiritually, the talents represent the gift of the complete revelation of God as given in the Bible, including the knowledge of His plan of salvation and the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God. It also includes His spiritual gifts to the church, such as speaking and understanding languages, preaching, teaching, discernment, knowledge, and wisdom, among many others (Romans 11:29; 12:6-8; I Corinthians 12:1-11).
What we "trade" with while He is absent belongs to Him. Our natural abilities are comparatively insignificant and of little value, but God has given us spiritual wealth to use by investing it in supporting the work of God. These talents, then, are not a matter of things we own or of strengths we have, but are part of the grace of God, provided for the church's benefit.
God's gifts accomplish much more through some people than they do through others, as is seen in how much the lord bestows on each servant. Every true servant of Christ receives the Holy Spirit, but different servants receive differing amounts of spiritual understanding from God. We do not receive more from Him than we can understand and use. Because God's servants differ in aptitude, He accordingly bestows His gifts to each servant as He pleases (I Corinthians 12:11).
The lord knew the trading ability of his chosen servants, and he distributed his talents accordingly. Talent and ability are two different things. Talents are the spiritual gifts of the Master, while ability is power from our natural fitness and skill. A person may have great natural ability, yet no spiritual gifts. Natural ability, however, one of God's physical gifts, is often necessary for the reception of spiritual gifts. This was no reflection on the third servant because he only received one talent; he could not handle more. Each servant of Christ receives for his service all that he needs and can use (Romans 12:4-9; I Corinthians 12:4-30).
This parable teaches us several things. God gives people differing gifts. Work well done is rewarded with still more work to do. The person who uses his gifts will be given more, while the person who does not will lose even what he has. If a person uses a gift, he is increasingly able to do more with it, and a person who does not try is punished. The only way to keep a spiritual gift is to use it in the service of God.

First Fruits

First Fruits

"All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord and must go into His treasury." - Joshua 6:19

One of the earliest examples of the practice of giving God the first fruits of the increase was when Joshua and the people entered the Promised Land for the first time.

When they crossed the Jordan River, their first battle was Jericho. God set a precedent with this battle by instructing them not to take any spoils from it. Unlike future battles, the fruits from this victory were to go into the treasury as a remembrance of their first victory in the Promised Land.

In addition, the city of Jericho was to be a lasting monument to God's faithfulness. God instructed Joshua never to rebuild this city. If they or anyone in the future attempted to rebuild the city, the life of the firstborn would be required.

Years later in the days of King Ahab, Hiel the Bethelite attempted to rebuild this city and his firstborn died as a result. God never forgets to enforce His Word.
Is your work a lasting monument to the faithfulness of God in your life?

Is it bringing glory to the Father?

Are you giving the first fruits from your increase to God?

God has encouraged us through this story to give the first fruits of our work to Him so that He will be glorified through our work. This is a tangible way for us to acknowledge that God is the source of all blessing.
