Shouldn't Our Government Officials Be OUR Advocates?
During a day known as “Muslim Advocacy Day,” members of Congress were paid a visit by representatives of the organization called the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO).
The group boasts that it successfully completed 225 meetings with high ranking U.S. elected representatives.
According to The Hill, the group was created to further the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood.
“The USCMO is the latest in a long series of front organizations associated with, and working to advance, the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States.”
The Muslim Brotherhood has been designated a terrorist organization from government bodies across the globe including the United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Egypt.
The United States House of Representatives introduced a bill to designate the Muslim brotherhood as a terrorist organization which seems at odds with how the Obama administration feels about the group.
Early on in Barack Obama’s presidency, several officials made favorable comments defending the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, for example, testified before Congress, claiming that the Muslim Brotherhood was largely secular. He said:
“The term Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella term for a variety of movements. In the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried al-Qaeda as a perversion of Islam.”
The White House later “clarified” Clapper’s position after it received national condemnation.
If the name James Clapper sounds familiar, you might also remember him as the guy who testified to Congress, under oath, that the NSA was not spying on and collecting data on millions of Americans.
