How should these amazing words be interpreted in light of the horrific events from which they were preserved?
The muslim terrorists who are responsible for 9/11 believed they were justified in retaliating against the United States for perceived wrongs done to their people by this nation.
Since that brutal act, the United States has retaliated against perceived enemies in the Middle East.
Who is the wronged party?
One thing we can ascertain, no matter who is 'right' or who is 'wrong' in the retaliatory acts that have been committed, is that the world has plunged deeper into the abyss of war and terrorism since 9/11; that the darkness shrouding men's hearts and minds has become more pervasive since then.
Perhaps the revelation of JESUS' timeless message should prompt each of us to resolve to allow the HOLY ONE to settle the matters of injustice that lurk within our world.
We, the ordinary men who people humanity, have no control over what is done by governments and armies, but we do have total control over the thoughts and intents of our own hearts.
May HE help us to surrender what is ours to HIS will and HIS way, that we may stand pure before HIM in an ever-more-corrupt and Godless world.
