A Daunting Year

 A Daunting Year

The year, 2020, has been fraught with questions without answers and concerns without resolution. When the policies of a sitting president seemed to bring about great prosperity and pervasive opportunities for citizens in all strata of society, suddenly, the Covid 19 pandemic brought a screeching halt to economic prosperity and to a successful presidency.
While the world watches in confusion, believers in Christ who heard the prophecies of continued prosperity and of a second term for President Trump must wonder, "Where God is in all this?"
The events of this year make Christians recall a 1986 prophecy by the late David Wilkerson about a plague coming that would shut down the government as well as churches and bars, including shaking New York City as it’s never been shaken.
For those who don't remember, David Wilkerson was the small town preacher from Rhersberg, PA who was called to New York City to minister to street gangs. In spite of his unfamiliarity with the lifestyle or activities of the rough gangs to whom he was called to minister, many of these dangerous young people gave their lives to Jesus because of the steadfast and courageous ministry of Rev. Wilkerson.
In his 1986 prophecy, Wilkerson said this plague would force closings of businesses and of entire cities. He said there would be unprecedented governmental control exerted over the citizenry. He further stated that this turn of events would call believers into radical prayer that will spark an awakening—akin to a "Third Great Awakening"--something echoed by Christian leaders and prophets today.
May we who believe in the power of prayer and in the efficacity of the word the Lord gives to His prophets be on our knees before the Throne of Mercy and Grace in the behalf of our nation at this time of turmoil.
This is not a matter of who has won a contested election but of who will pray for the will of God to be done in this land that was placed at His feet at its inception. People of faith must want the candidate chosen by the Holy One to be inaugurated on January 20 far more than he wants the candidate of his political party to be placed in the Oval Office.
May we pray for the Lord's will to be done.
