The Book of Revelation contains some hard sayings. This portion of the Bible delves into the events of the ‘end time.’ Much of it is incomprehensible from our vantage point in time and much that we think we do understand is unsettling.
There are various theories of how the last days will unfold. Perhaps the most appealing is the ‘pre tribulation’ theory—the one that says believers in Christ will have been raptured before the cataclysmic events spoken of in Revelation’s pages unfold.
One thing we can ascertain is that those who remain when the man who is the embodiment of evil reveals himself for who he really is (most Biblical scholars believe it will be in the middle of his seven-years of power) will be engulfed in the most pervasive outpouring of wickedness that the world has ever known—far exceeding the Nazi Holocaust!
While it seems virtually impossible that the horrendous degree of evil attained by Hitler’s henchmen could be exceeded, the words of Revelation indicate that it will be. In fact, in Revelation 13:10 it says, “If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go. If anyone is to perish by the sword, he will perish. This time will call for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.” Evil will have its way before Jesus triumphs.
