Sometimes we ponder what will become of our little ones. Although we delight in our children and grandchildren—and great grandchildren—we cannot help but wonder how they will fare in this old world of ours. Things seem to be getting worse and worse as the Bible predicts they will (II Timothy 3:13) and we are concerned how our young ones will maintain the faith and live godly lives in such an evil environment.
We endeavor to nurture them in the wisdom and admonition of the Lord. We encourage them to seek wise counsel when they find themselves facing dilemmas of any sort. We admonish them to select friends whose commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ is steadfast and whose lives reflect that commitment. But we aren’t sure our efforts are enough to counter their continual bombardment with the world’s skewed view.
When we find ourselves agonizing over our own helplessness to avail those who are most precious to us with a secure place to escape from the hail of evil that is falling upon planet earth with greater and ever increasing intensity, we cannot help but to lament the darkening horizon and to pray HE will make their way when it seems there is no way.
If we consider the words of Psalm 100:5, we will discover that our Lord has already anticipated our concern and counters the lament within our bosom. Here the psalmist says, “The Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations…” Yes!...through all generations!!!! As long as Jesus tarries His return, those we’ve committed to Him will be secure in His keeping.
